Good, a tastier version of the juncture of redrum's mother's legs.

That pressure measurement is what is incredible. So...if a person was dragged down in a submarine, and released into the wild, I'm guessing their head would just instantly implode?

Very cool although they look like something we learned about in Reproductive Science class.

What about that other type of fish that's swimming around? Where's the love for them?

What the heck are they eating, or gathering around, or whatever. Looks like a pile of kibble or something...

Reading comprehension is your friend.

The images show groups that are sociable and active—possibly even families—feeding on little shrimp, yet living in one of the most extreme environments on Earth.

No sub could go that deep, but if it could, and a person was somehow released there, every single space in our body would be compressed down to nothing, like those vacuum bags where you can put clothes and stuff in and vacuum the air out, but a lot messier, since the blood and other matter would have to go somewhere if it couldn't compress as much as out body will be doing.

Screw aliens.

I have a hard time believing they could be any stranger than some of the !@#$ we have living on this berg.

...and yet these tiny little fish can take that pressure...truly amazing!

What kind of a question is that?

You're already on a site that isn't safe for work.

How do the fish support that kind of pressure??My guess is their bodies are designed to reinforce the pressure with water from the inside... either going through their mouths or gills or whatever.

I would assume that's why they're bottom dwellers... their swim bladders are not capable of making any difference in elevating the fish that much.

no one else on earth could handle this filming

I remember reading that Alvin's replacement is going to be capable of diving to 6,500 meters.

And, returning to the surface un-imploded, of course.

This submersible went deeper than that almost 40 years ago. A little over 10,900 meters.

Truthfully, going down is the easy part. It's the coming up un-imploded part that's the trick.

Nonsense. A good "emergency blow" can take care of all pressure issues.

On a similar topic, I wonder if you'd be okay if you chewed some gum going down. You know, to equalize the pressure.
