View Full Version : Chiefs Herm: No personnel changes

Hammock Parties

It's just one line, but this would seem to indicate that Sackintosh will remain at right tackle, Hali will remain at right end, and we will remain the dumbest team in America.

http://www.bobgretz.com/chiefs-football/chiefs-update-108.html

Edwards said there were no personnel changes planned for this week or next.

“The more they play the more they will gain some confidence,” Edwards said of his young roster. “We are at the point now, after five games, they’ve got to feel like they know what it takes. They need to continue to prepare. That’s the whole thing now, teaching them how to prepare each week with a great focus.”

Herm's going to teach them how to prepare? Jesus.

Herm is famous for not "preparing" his teams. They always start seasons flat or worse than flat ... which is saggy, I think. Either saggy or droopy. Or slumpswagglesunklesucky, maybe.

From the press conference:

Q: Do you expect to make personnel decisions based on what you see this week?

EDWARDS: “Not really. It’s a young team and they’ve got to continue to play. When they play then they learn, then they have confidence about what’s there and how they play. I think it’s the point. Now after five games, I know what it takes to win. We’re teaching them how to prepare every week with a great focus so that they can be a detail player. We break down too much, we have so many young guys so everyone takes a turn. All of a sudden bad plays occur.”That might indicate he only means to make personnel decisions based on what's already transpired. I'm hoping.

It makes no sense, whatsoever.

McInTrash has to grade out as poorly as any player on the team week to week. Worse, no doubt, than any other lineman on offense or defense. Maybe he thinks that McInTool will have some kind of epiphany and wake up one morning with his technique, strength, speed, and intelligence magically restored. Could happen, I guess.

Hmmmmm.

Q: When Branden comes back are you guys going to move T Herb Taylor to the right side?

EDWARDS: “Herb is a swing tackle, he can play both sides. We’d like to keep those guys together. (T) Damion (McIntosh) has been moved from left tackle to right tackle so he’s kind of learning his way. As well as our right guard (Adrian Jones), he was a tackle before. So that’s something we’ve got to shore up, we’ve got to do a better job over there. Herbie (Taylor) can play both sides and obviously he did a good job last week. He’s come in and played pretty well. We’ll just take a look at all those kinds of situations and see what we need to hit.”

According to the numbers, Jones has yet to give up a sack, plus he knocked ol boy from Denver silly 2 Sunday's ago. Missnwhiff on the other needs to be replaced, nobody talks about Richardson, but I can't see him being any worse in the pass and has an upside in the run.

Jones is a good pass protector and can get out and move when the Chiefs call for perimeter running plays. His problem is that he's just not very strong at the point of attack. That's why we struggled so much last week. He was going up against a MONSTER DT who ate him alive.

Why would Herm want to be canned? This is the perfect situation for him ... a team whose ownership puts little emphasis on winning. No, Herm is the kind of guy who would rather quit than be fired. That way, he could blame his exit on someone else rather than take responsibility on himself.

My guess is that he believes that stability in the o-line personnel is more important than individual talent at this point. It's the only possible explanation. He does, you know, cling to the coaching maxims he's learned over the years. Well ... the ones he learned 30 years ago, anyhow. And, the criticality of maintaining consistency in the o-line lineup is one of those.

Then, he could coach the second half while the words, "Come Home Bill Cowher!!" flash on the scoreboard.

Yeah, it was the same bullshit you saw here with Solari. Herm blamed everything on Hackett (who had no leg to stand on anyway after that debacle in the last 2 minutes of that 97 playoff game against the Broncos). in comes Hermadinger and Pennington goes down, and Fiedler goes down. then with Brooks Bollinger starting going into Baltimore Herm states ''any drive ending up with a kick is a good drive'' :spock:

The problem is that the common denominator in these abomination's of offensive play calls is Herman Edwards. and he refuses to take responsibility. but he does have a track record now at least. unfortunately for you guys.

What sucks more than watching this team, is watching other NFL games like the Monday night Saints vs Vikes. I'm sick of watching exciting football games and then endure this going nowhere fast BS that Herm is serving us. I knew this year was going to be tough to deal with, but the lack of effort on Sunday was sickening. McSuckmydick has to be the worst RT we've trotted out there. Even Turley tried not to suck. I'm for moving Jones back to RT and letting Richardson learn the RG spot. What's the worst that can happen? Brodie get hurt?

I'm sure you guys have seen those movies where the offensive line doesn't block anybody because they don't like the quarterback, right? I wonder if Downfield has said or done something that pissed McInTool off or maybe McInTurd was paid by some other person who, for some reason, harbors animosity towards Downfield and gave him money to dog it on pass plays. The last time I was "for" him was when he announced "The Plan". It made a lot of sense under the circumstances ... and still does, in theory. Eh. This season is broke and there really won't be any fixing it in the immediate future because there is no QB, no Olinemen and no DEs available that can make this team magically unsuck this year; they just aren't on the roster.

Imagine trying to drive a car but the engine burns so much oil that it overheats when driven for any period of time so you have to pull over immediately and park the car until the engine cools. The radiator, which is supposed to protect the engine from overheating is also leaking due to the large hole on the right (about 40% of the radiator doesn't function at all) so it's no real help in the matter and the monster tires you bought a few years ago don't get traction because the dang grass is too tall (at least, that is the problem the tires have named). Now, even if you had a competent mechanic to get those nuts and bolts all twisted, he wouldn't be able to until at least next August because the parts may or may not be on back-order until April or May or June or July. Further compounding the problem, the mechanic you've left the car with is probably going out of business at the end of the year because he's about as useful as left-handed screwdriver so you see there really is no point in debating which piece of aquarium tubing might function as a radiator hose until the new mechanic arrives with his neverending box of Snap-On tools.

Sad thing is I really honestly don't think Herm is smart enough to be a HC. I just really don't. He ran the Jets into the ground......granted a lot of things happened here in KC where he couldn't avoid like the Oline, Roaf and Shields retired and Carl never did anything in the previous regime to replace them.....a lot of players got old.

I know he wants to get younger....but you can get younger and still compete. Trading Allen was a HUGE mistake....I've said that from the beginning, our pass rush was barely average with him as we had no push up the middle. We are starting to develope pass rush up the middle (They are getting better) but now have no rush from the outside ends. For whatever reason we take an avg DE and put him over on his weak side and expect him to do just as good? WTF is wrong with this team? Hali was brealy and avg DE playing LE to being with. Allen, Dorsey, Tyler, Hali would be a good Dline IMO.

Just another major mistake rebuilding this team from top to bottom. We got a backup safety and blocking TE for the best pass rusher in the NFL.....unbelievable.
