This is how it always is: the release date that is posted is always the SHIP date. So add 1 day to the "release day" and that's when you can find it in stores.

But playing 4 seasons worth of league games, cup games, uefa/euro, as well as for your national side if you're called up, that's still a lot of matches.

created a midfielder on Be A Pro. I suck terribly. I can only get the goal match ratings for the extra points about half the time. I have yet to score a goal, but my goal for the season is only 3.

you start on the reserve team, which means they move you around a lot, I've played in the center and on the left as well as at striker once.

it's hard to read the field while you're moving with the ball and people are after you, and it's hard to get scoring chances for yourself, although i had good luck creating them.

I wish there were some kind of simulated interaction with your teammates or manager or popularity with fans like there is in the legend mode in those college football games.

Silock
10-16-2008, 03:24 PM
The only thing I don't like about Be A Pro is that when the ball isn't near you, the camera stays on you. I can't find a camera mode that doesn't do that.

BTW, midfielders are much harder to get ratings with than strikers. I created a striker and am averaging a hat trick every game. All you have to do is pump your finishing, speed and acceleration stats, and call for the ball and run on to it for an easy finish.

the 'big four' teams are manchester united, chelsea, liverpool, and arsenal. for the last 15 or so years, no team from outside that group has won the league. liverpool hasn't, but no team outside that group ever finishes out of the top 4. there hasn't even been a third place team outside them in almost a decade.

those four outspend the other clubs mightily, take the top four spots in some order every year, take all the champion's league berths. picking up a team from that group is like spontaneously becoming a patriots fan, tom brady's ACL not withstanding

I bought a FIFA game about 6 years ago, because I wanted to learn more about the setup of a soccer season.

It kinda sucked...because it didn't teach me much. And the game play bored me. On the medium level, I'd just run down the field, send a guy and pass to him, and score at will. The next level up, I couldn't do a damn thing. There was no in between for me. It was maddening.
Has it gotten better about that since then?

In that first game, you got extremely lucky.

You had lobbed the ball in, and for whatever reason my defender decided to back-pedal instead of run for the ball. My only choice was to foul you with Terry, and of course he got a red-card.

I was playing pretty well after that point, until about the 60 min mark when I couldn't do shit with 10 men.

He used to but has long since given it up for the most part. Drogba used to be really bad about it too but has also given most of it up. You will find it from time to time with any player. Christiano Ronaldo is one of the most fouled players in the world because of his skillz and you really can't blame him for 'making a meal' of a trivial bit of contact from time to time just in the interest of self preservation.

i haven't been watching manchester united this season, i tend to get tired of it all and avoid their matches in spells. i hope he's improved on it

Spurs gave up a penalty this past weekend for something that was a bit of contract, but not enough to send a player down unless they want to go down i thought.

it was huge, Stoke were spotted a goal lead and spurs were down to 10. they equalized after only a few minutes and played well enough to win the match if they hadn't been down a man for 70 or 80 minutes, but in the end they lose and are absolutely buried now in the drop zone.

the team is struggling, they've got serious problems and their director needs to be axed, and it was a gift that created the chance to begin with, but it's one dive that could as much as any single thing send Tottenham down this season.

Haha, yea it's really annoying when the players run away from the ball...or stop their routes after you've passed...

The UEFA Cup is a European competition, it's the 2nd best one behind the Champions League, it also has a different format. In the big leagues like Premier or Liga A 1st-3rd places play in the CL, the next 3 or 4 teams after that will play in the UEFA Cup.

Ramos has to be put on the next plane out of London, he can't even speak English, how is he going to coach players? The team is basically without a manager and it doesn't help that they've sold so much away, or that teams were tampering with their star players. You can see why they are in the spot they are in.

They need to sack Ramos and patch some holes in the transfer period, but they dont have the roster of a relegation candidate. I think they can still save it.

well, that's that

After weeks of speculation, finally some decisive action. After a day of rumours of mounting dressing room mutiny at White Hart Lane, Tottenham last night confirmed the dismissals of beleagured Juande Ramos and his football director, Damien Comolli - and that Ramos' replacement will be Portsmouth's Harry Redknapp.

'It's a great opportunity for me to manage a big club before I retire,' Redknapp said, confirming he expects to be present at today's game against Bolton, and plans to address the players before the match.

'Tottenham have come in and offered £5million, which is good for the club, and if we're all being honest it was a deal which is good for the club. It worked out okay for everybody.'

A statement released by Spurs last night read: 'The club can announce that Damien Comolli, sporting director, Juande Ramos, head coach and first-team coaches, Marcos Alvarez and Gus Poyet, have left the club, with immediate effect. We wish them well.

'Clive Allen, development squad coach, and Alex Inglethorpe, youth team manager, will take charge for [today's] league match against Bolton.

The news followed a swirl of rumours and public comments from players about the failing Ramos regime, including claims from a senior dressing-room source that Spurs would end up relegated from the Premier League if Ramos were allowed to continue.

Tottenham are already four points adrift at the bottom of the division following their worst start to a League campaign in almost a century. Ramos was controversially poached from Sevilla early last season on the club's richest ever managerial contract, while the Frenchman Comolli - in tandem with the chairman - oversaw a transfer policy that resulted in Tottenham selling their three highest-scoring strikers in the space of just over seven months, then replacing them with players who Ramos had publicly stated do not function well together.

As the Spaniard failed to find a working solution to his personnel problems, the team grew restless with his leadership. According to The Observer's source, some members of Tottenham's first-team squad:

• Had entirely lost confidence in Ramos' ability to manage them.

• Were discontented with the manager's habit of naming his team only a few hours before the game and of altering his formation from pre-match training sessions.

• Did not understand why Ramos constantly changes the composition of his starting 11.

• Were opposed to Ramos' practice of having the team stay overnight in a hotel ahead of home and away games.

• Developed problems with their time-keeping and attitude.

The source believes the team have been out of control for several weeks.

Ramos was appointed in October last year, shortly after the dismissal of Martin Jol, the popular Dutch coach who had guided Tottenham to consecutive fifth-place finishes.

In February Ramos guided the club to victory in the Carling Cup final, but had led the team in winning just three of their subsequent 20 Premier League fixtures. Having shared a difficult relationship with Jol, Comolli took an active role in Ramos's recruitment.

Ledley King had refused to join the chorus of open insurrection that was rising at White Hart Lane saying there was 'still time'. But the Spurs captain's defence of his manager was ultimately futile. King, who played only his sixth game of the season at Udinese, had insisted: 'It is natural when things are going badly that there are rumours, and there are good players at this club who are frustrated with what's been happening, that is true. But I can tell you we all want the team to turn it around, to do well. We support the manager.' As it turned out they were not merely rumours.

What started early in the week as a quiet whinge from the talkative David Bentley - 'It looks like we don't know what we're doing,' he said before being left out of Spurs' squad for the Uefa Cup tie at Udinese - was ratcheted up by Jonathan Woodgate and Luka Modric after they lost 2-0 in Italy on Thursday night.

Woodgate rated Spurs 'worse than Leeds' when he was with them during their relegation; Modric, a fleeting presence since his arrival, complained after the Udinese capitulation: 'I did my best but I was all alone in the middle.'

Spurs fans will hope a new regime can mark the end to universal ridicule for performances and results by their team that have placed them in danger of disappearing into the dark waters of the old Second Division, where they have not been since 1977-78.

I don't think things were as bad for them as they seemed now, and for some of the others down at the bottom of the table, their form is very poor. there are 5 or 6 bottom teams that have all got real problems and none of those teams have more than 1 win in the last 6.

spurs are unlucky though to have arsenal and liverpool next, but the schedule gets easier as transfer season gets nearer and hopefully they can get some help up front

Well, our retarded sport has produced the only pro sports franchise in this town that has experienced even a modicum of success lately.

Speaking of, Wizards playoff game Saturday night at the CAB.

times commentator:

Wednesday night’s London derby was a fantastic game but as much as I enjoyed it, that 4-4 scoreline showed why Arsenal won’t win the title and why Spurs are bottom. Tottenham are defensively awful and when they don’t have the ball – always a test of how good players really are – the midfield is non-existent. Arsenal went straight through the likes of Luka Modric and Tom Huddlestone.

As for Arsenal, the goalkeeper and the centre-back pairings – William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre on Wednesday – are not good enough. Arsenal don’t have a partnership at the heart of defence to rival John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho at Chelsea, Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel or Daniel Agger at Liverpool or Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand at Manchester United. And all three clubs have goalkeepers miles better than Manuel Almunia.

OK, David Bentley’s long-range goal was amazing, take nothing away from him, but it was made possible by Arsenal’s shortcomings. It’s basic defending – go forward, block and hurry the opponent. But Silvestre backpedalled, giving Bentley the time and space to shoot.

With Theo Walcott a bright light and Robin van Persie fit there’s a lot to be excited about up front for Arsenal but what a difference a top defensive midfield player such as Javier Mascherano would have made on a night such as Wednesday. Yet Arsene Wenger, the manager, doesn’t even enter the bidding process for expensive stars. I don’t see him changing his transfer policy in January. But you don’t hold on to the likes of Cesc Fabregas by finishing third or fourth every year.

How does the EPL work?

Is there a playoff for the Championship, or just the top 2 teams at the end of the year play in it?

Team with the most points off of games wins the league. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Bottom three teams are relegated to the Coca Cola league... top 3 teams from that league are brought up to the Premiership.

There are other Cup competitions throughout the year, though. Carling Cup, FA cup, and the UEFA or Champion's League.

I just couldn't bring myself to pay $65 for a game that's been out for 8 months with a new one right around the corner, so I got this used for $20. Am I becoming a soccer fanboy? Could be..............
