Just as I figured. Carl didn't want to see his future Hall of Fame tight end, a guy he MOVED UP to select, finish his career on a contender, while the Chiefs flop around like a fish out of water. I'd love to hear what we were offered from these various clubs. If there was a 3rd/6th offer out there and Carl didn't bite, he should be shitcanned, period.

Carl's ego strikes again.

You had to get a 2nd rounder for him.

It was supposedly Buffalo that offered the 3rd rounder, but Tony didn't want to go there. Schefter said as much on NFLN, I don't know why that's not in his article.

Reading between the lines from what has been said outright or rumored today....

Buffalo: 3rd rounder
Philly: 4th
NYG: late pick and WR Moss

Only the Buffalo offer was worth considering, but Tony didnt want to go there. Its all over Bills forums (with a bunch of F*** Tony Gonzalez posts).

If Tony really wanted out that bad, he would have gone. They are certainly closer than we are. This will be disappointing to the bunch that wants to act like Tony was doing everything he can to get out of town.

I think Tony was pulling a Favre. Wanting to go to one place, then trying to orchestrate a move there.

He's just not as big a douche as Favre is.

You'd think considering he has a close affection to Tony he would let Tony go, like Tony wanted.

But I guess that makes too much sense?

That was my guess, I couldn't see him wanting to play for Buffalo.
I don't care how well they have started the season, they haven't proved they are any different when it comes to winning in the postseason then the Chiefs.

If Jeremy Shockey is worth a 2nd and 5th or 6th whatever it was, then Tony was too. If we didn't get that offer I'm glad we didn't trade him. Hell, I don't care what we were offered, I'm glad we didn't trade him.

“No, it was never close,” Peterson said. “For a player of Tony’s stature I was willing to accomodate something I don’t normally do. I went out to see if there were teams interested in him. I did that and there were very few teams that were interested.

“Tony and his representative (Tom Condon) knew from the start that any deal had to make sense for the Kansas City Chiefs and no one came close. No proposal compared to the value of Tony Gonzalez to the Kansas City Chiefs.”

The wheels are barely hanging on for this franchise. If they had traded Tony, the wheels would have all fallen off...for the franchise.

The hell with a mid round draft choice.
