Marinelli was a dline coach. He has 0 experience as an NFL DC. No thanks.

Maybe.. we need Dline help bad and we have "Tampa Two" players in place... It's also pretty hard to find good experienced coaches just sitting around on the streets.

I don't think it's a bad idea, especially since he runs a similar defense as Herm's. I'm pushing for Ron Rivera big time, as I'm sure he would love to get back into coordinating a defense rather than serving as an assistant. I would also put Donnie Henderson on the short list--even though he had a mediocre tenure in Detroit, most of that was due to poor personnel decisions.

Actually, we really don't. Our defensive ends don't find the T2 mold, neither does Tank. Maybe Dorsey does...

Our corners fit the Tampa 2. Thats pretty much it.

Our OLBs have a lot of range and good coverage abilities (if only our freaking coordinator/LBs coach would coach them right) Our DTs fit. Our CBs fit. I think Turk McBride fits. And while Pollard is slower than the typical tampa 2 safety, John Lynch was great in the Tampa 2. I think some veresion of the Tampa 2 makes a lot of sense. But we'll definitely still need a rangy MLB and a pass rushing DE to be effective.

A Detroit hire? No thanks. Detroit sucks for a reason.

I think Turk McBride fits. You are fucking clueless. McBride belongs inside in a true Cover 2.

And while Pollard is slower than the typical tampa 2 safety, John Lynch was great in the Tampa 2.

That's great. Too bad Pollard doesn't hit ANYONE.

Monte Kiffen out of TB would be my 1st choice. I think his son was doing a pretty damn good job in Oakland too.

Tampa has been playing good D for a long time...

Why don't we actually look for a D-coordinator who hasn't been an abysmal failure, who actually knows how to develop individual players, and can implement a scheme other than one designed to stop the Offense du jour from 25 fucking years ago?

Chuck Cecil would be a hell of a pick, IMO.

This team is in such a mess right now, I would pay Cowher anything he wants to bring back the toughness and winning attitude to this franchise, and hope that he hires a proven coordinator like Wade Phillips, who lets face it, will be available this offseason and did a great job turning that San Diego defense around after taking over a horrendous unit...
