Titans RB Chris Johnson fined $10K for celebration

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson has been fined $10,000 for his celebration after a 66-yard touchdown run against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL said Thursday Johnson was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct for banging on some drums in the Chiefs’ pep band during Sunday’s 34-10 victory. He was penalized 15 yards at the time.

“I am not happy about it,” Johnson told reporters Thursday. “I knew I was going to get a fine, but I am totally upset about how much. I am going to appeal. There’s no fun in this league. I was trying to have fun and they want to penalize us for having fun.”

I thought this was hilarious and the fine is a joke. Sure he used props but it's not like he planted a Sharpie beforehand. The NFL is becoming WAY too fine happy under Goodell. Did LJ get fined for waving and planting the Chiefs flag in the endzone last season?

I was there, in that end zone, and never saw him play the drums. How'd I miss that?

I guess I just assumed the flag was for his histrionic leap into the end zone.

Bullshit.

One of the better celebrations I've seen since Chad Johnson's Riverdance.

There are no need for celebrations like that. Hand the ball to the damn ref.

First....the pu**y chiefs players should have went after him (YOU MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE).

So I say....if our own team's players didnt have a problem with it......let it be.

And yes....it is the No fun league....

Scoring a touchdown against our shit defense really shouldn't rate any sort of extraordinary celebration. It's not like it's that big of a deal.

if anything it should've been LenDale White doing the bongos. He made chubby people proud that day.

Hey, at least the drummer should have done something... it's just not "okay" to have someone barge in and start using your drums without your permission!!

That would almost be like someone using my toothbrush to me! :cuss: I say the 10K penalty should go to the band!!

That was kinda my thought. I'm no fan of the Pack band but who wants an idiot sweaty football player fingering their percussion equipment? Security - somebody should have prevented that.

Maybe the base drummer could have hit him the the MCL with a drum mallet. It would have been the only good Hit by someone from KC all day.

Yeah, unfortunately Herm has bred a group of apathetic losers. Too bad Tony G. didn't also play defense. He seems to be the only one that plays with any pride at all.

*I* don't care personally because I've resigned my team to blow this year and for the foreseeable future.

If I were wearing a helmet with an Arrowhead logo that day, I'd have done everything in my power to escort the guy back to his sideline by his hair.

I thought it was a little disrespectful to Arrowhead and its fans...but with that said, I didnt really care about it. Chiefs let him rumble all over the place, he deserved to "beat them like drums". Im sure Johnson was just having fun, i dont hold it against him, and i dont think a fine that big should have been dealt...maybe $2,500....but not 10,000

I would of been pissed, kind of like when the Ricky Waters throat slashing crap he pulled on us when Seattle beat us down pretty good in our own house, Ricky ran over us like Johnson and White did on sunday... I guess we didnt "take care of business" that day either....

I used to get pissed, but Herm has removed all pride as a fan for this team and franchise... According to KCJohnny, Herm was restoring Chiefs pride at one time..

Now I find that celebration amusing and a reflection of the coaching staff..

If the Chiefs defense wants to send a message. Keep him from gashing you and scoring a TD in the first place. Everything else is just sour grapes.

Remember... Dwayne Bowe did the Dirty Bird when he scored the TD in Atlanta.
Was that just as disrespectful?

However it further proves that Herm has sucked all the emotion and passion out of his players. One or more of our guys should've kicked his ass for pulling that. These guys don't even protect Arrowhead anymore...
