how could Herm not call time out instead of spiking it at the end of the 1st half

EVERYONE KNOWS


you call time out with 20ish seconds left and then take 3 shots to the endzone ...... then kick the field goal.

Herm the sperm got his bacon saves by thigpen and bradley.

To me, it looked like Thigpen was the one who was running everyone up so he could spike it. Herm could have called a TO, though.

I didn't think of it til the announcers said something, but with the TO still on the board, the middle of the field was still available for a possible touchdown. If he had used the TO, the only option was the endzone. Now, as it turns out, we didn't need it, but if the middle of the field was open just short of the endzone, we could have tried, and if we didn't get the touchdown, the fieldgoal was still an option.

except for we burn so much time we only had time for 1 more play no matter what. :shrug:

The second to the last drive is what killed the Chiefs. A 3 point lead, 3 minutes to go, so that means 3 straight running plays to try and run the clock out. Brilliant. Herm, Herm, Herm...

I think the call was sound. Keep the TO to kick the FG.

Now, if this was at the end of the game, you'd have a point.

I'd hazard to say that 3 shots to the endzone in under 20 seconds from the 20 when the D knows what you're going for has a smaller probability of success than a 30yd kick.
