Wow it looks like the stadium is full again. As good as Tulsa's offense is, that would be pretty good entertainmanet value. $12 a ticket GA is hard to beat.

Tulsa has a white WR named "Slick".

I listened to an interview of TU's head coach Todd Grahm last week. They asked him why his offense is so effective. He responded by saying that they want to make the defense as uncomfortable as possible by having a very fast pace and making unpredictable playcalling. Tulsa utilizes all the things that he hated to prepare for and defend against when he was a defensive coordinator.

Makes a lot of sense. Maybe we should send Herm a copy of the interview.

I wonder how UCF's former running back Kevin Smith is doing at Detroit. He was a stud last year, and absolutely killed Tulsa in both games.

That is the result of a good offense going against no defense.

Herm wouldn't coprehend it. Somebody would have to explain it to him.

Tulsa put up 77 last week against Utep and won 77-35. which is funny cause at one point the score was tied 28-28 early in the 2nd quarter of that game

After they explained it to Herm, he would have to check the tape, explain that Tulsa has good football players that make good football plays, but in the end Tulsa plays arena ball.

Sounds about right. Herm can't pick his nose without looking at the tape.

Yeah, because the Saints/Chargers game was played at London, and the fact that there's the MLB WS game.

Plus, I'm sure Tulsa took it just to get the ESPN exposure. Although it is a bit strange playing a game after the polls have all come out.

What does this mean?

O'Leary left Georgia Tech for Notre Dame, lied on his ap about a few things and was fired a few days after being hired.

He physically looks like hell, too.

O'Leary is a pretty good coach, and probably would have did well at Notre Dame.

Conference USA is historically stronger than the MAC because they used to have teams like Louisville. But not this year, these announcers can stick it.

It is said that how you adjust at half-time shows how good/bad of coaching is involved.

Tulsa's adjustment was a foot in the team's ass by the Head Coach.

Adjustments are everything. During the Marty/Gun era you could see it on the opening drive. When the other team got the kickoff and started driving, by the time they got to the red zone, Gun had them neutralized. (I'm sure it was Marty's doings)

notorious
10-26-2008, 09:07 PM
Did Gun coordinate from the sidelines or the box back then?

His adjustments consisted of:

a. send DT around the edge
b. send Neil Smith around the other edge
c. have Hasty and Carter physically beat the shit out of the WR's all the way down the field (pre-illegal contact)

Maybe personnel and Schot had a little to do with it.

Here is a little slightly off-topic FYI that very few people know:

Fort Hays State has a higher student enrollement than Tulsa.

That amazed me when Bill Self took them to the Great 8 in B-Ball (should have been Final 4)
and still amazes me to this day.

Tulsa is a private school and is damn expensive to attend. UCF is something like the 6th largest in the nation by enrollment. Poor lil ol' Tulsa.
