He stammered, made fun of Dylan R and they cut him off. I think he was pounding scotch on the job.

Charlie Gasparino Burns Out On Live TV

On CNBC, Charlie Gasparino looked either drunk or burnt out from his incessant reporting on the credit crisis. On several popular stock message boards, people are speculating that Charlie must have been drunk because he was not responding to any of Dylan Ratigan's questions. Dylan asked him about the Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER) merger and Charlie kept mumbling, "What have I got. What have I got."

Later, Dylan told Charlie, "we only have limited time."
To which Gasparino says, "What have I got? What I got is shoot for the capitalism."
Dylan: "Shoot for the capitalism'? What?"
Charlie: "What have I got?"
Dylan: ""Okay, not really sure what just happened there"

After that, CNBC quickly cut away from Mr. Gasparino.

We put a call into CNBC media relations, but have not heard anything back yet

I'd hit the bottle too if my job was to report on the credit disaster and spin it positively. That group (CNBC et al) spins things so much that maybe Gasparino is tired of the lies. He's been a bit flaky in the past and he may have gone over the edge today. I'd love to see the video and then send him a bottle of Maker's Mark if he's really fed up with the CNBS.
