JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio sent linebacker Mike Peterson home Wednesday, two days after Del Rio questioned his team's chemistry.

Peterson was not at practice, and officials said Del Rio planned to release a statement regarding the situation later Wednesday.

Peterson, who leads the Jaguars with 85 tackles, did not return a phone call seeking comment. The former Florida standout is in the final year of his contract and felt slighted when the Jaguars didn't offer him an extension in the offseason.

It was unclear what led to Peterson's dismissal, which came as the Jaguars (3-5) try to rebound from consecutive losses to Cleveland and Cincinnati.

No, you are thinking of Martin Gramatica.

I'm not one of the 'everyone on the team needs to be 24 or younger' true fans.

However, Peterson will be 33 next season. I'd really prefer that if we're going to get veterans, we at least get them in the 29/30 range. He just has too many miles on him at this point.

Didn't realize he was that old, fuck that

I thought he was the guy who whipped Phobia's ass out at the airport.

Peterson has missed most of the last 2 years because of injury and has never really been that much of a difference maker.

AAaAwe, memories back in the day when Mike Peterson was playing for the University of Florida. This guy was practically an icon football prospect on the KC Star board, people were going Matt Ryan batshit crazy over him.

Yup, he was very mediocre for Indy for a handful of years. That's why my first thought was "Really? That Peterson?". I just didn't think he'd still be around.

Wow, 33? I am getting REALLY old. I remember on the Star Board when this was the single most pimped out guy ever. There was a legion of "Iron" Mike Peterson followers!

Apparently he can balance a frisbee on his pickle all while decleating running backs and stopping world hunger!
