It's so cold out, that my house dog keeps opening the door wanting me to go out so I'll stop bothering him to go outside and use the bathroom...

With the wind here, you can subtract about 40 degrees off your temp there...

That's 10 miles uphill, both ways, in the snow.

The wind has been blowing for 4 straight days now with no relief in sight, I'm fugging sick of it already. I even broke down and fired up the woodstove last night, usually I don't crank that thing up until around Thanksgiving. I thought we were supposed to have a mild winter, so much for that shit.

First time poster here!! (I've been lurking for sometime now.)
I have tickets to the Chiefs/Chargers game on December 14th.
Thought this would be a good time to ask about the typical
weather for that time period. I'm sure that it will be cold but
I was wondering if there's usually any snow at that point.

It's very likely, but it wouldn't be unheard of for there not to be any.

I was more concerned about road conditions. I'm about 10 hours south of KC.
This trip will be an early surprise Christmas present for my 12 year old son.
It will be his (and my) first time to visit Arrowhead. I've been a fan since I saw the
Chiefs win Super Bowl IV (at age 9)

I hear it's not that bad here and that it's much worse further north. I'm hoping to be out by mid-December, so hopefully I won't have to find out.

It varies quite a bit, but it could be pretty cold and there could be snow. A couple of years ago I remember it being 60 during Thanksgiving, but I went to a December Broncos game 3 or 4 years ago and it was like 20 degrees with a few inches of snow on the ground. So, bring everything. :)

If it snows, as long as you take the main highways, you'll be good. Just expect to move pretty slow.

Unless you're driving up right as a major storm hits, you should be alright.

About the same as Memphis and northern Arkansas is that time of the year. 30s to 40s, doesnt really snow alot in December so you should be fine. From Memphis to KC, roads shouldnt be that much of a problem other than a stretch in Arkansas.

It's not bad unless it happens to snow on the days you're in town... the roads typically clear pretty quickly, since in KC it can be in the 20s one day and 40s the next.

The drivers suck, so watch out for that. You don't have to worry about being worse at driving in the snow than the locals.

He could take 55 up to St Louis, then take 70 over, if it's too bad. I doubt it will be.

Detroit's just temporary... when I'm done here I'll probably be in Omaha for a few weeks before they ship me someplace else. The rumor is Milan, Italy for 3-6 months, but I have no idea if it'll happen. It would be a nice step up from Detroit though. :)

Born in 60? Would make him 48 now. His son would have been born when he was 36. Not too uncommon nowadays.

Auburn Hills is 30 miles away from downtown Detroit, and it's definitely one of the nicer areas. I live 3 miles from work and that's taken 30 minutes on some days, so I don't know how people live out here and work in the city. I wouldn't live here, but I guess one of the main reasons I don't think it's that bad is because I know I get to leave. :D

Imagine living in a city with the country's highest rate for violent crime and the second-highest unemployment rate. As an added kicker you need more Superfund dollars allocated to your city to clean up contaminated toxic waste sites than just about any other metro.

Unfortunately, this nightmare is a reality for the residents of Detroit.

Of course there's violent crime... I'd be pissed if I was a criminal and everyone I mugged didn't have any money because they were jobless.
