View Full Version : Chiefs Justin Miller waived

This is the most obvious waiver claim ever right? A 24 year old athletic cornerback that was drafted and played for Herm and has 3 NFL kick return touchdowns already. Could this be the Mark Bradley of defense? I'm sure other teams will put in a claim but not many are ahead of us on the priority list.

Sure, hitting a woman unintentionally because his original target, very male, evaded the punch is like spitting on a woman.

I'd definitely bring him in.

I don't think so. That incident was a full year ago.

That incident was a year ago, he shouldn't be acting like a fool, but he was at least swinging at a man, unlike LJ who prefers to smack women on purpose.

That would be worth a look if the Chiefs choose to, its not like we're FULL at Corner right now, and it doesn't matter to me if one of the scrubs is cut.

Keep him away from night clubs and LJ.

A change of scenery has been pretty good for many players, including Bradley.

Absolutely.

With Edwards' ties to the kid I'm fairly confident they'll try to get this done.

If Miller could go to NE, why would he come to a struggling team like the Chiefs? Especially if he likes the east coast?

Is Edwards getting out a jelly packet to toss some salad?

That's an exciting though. I loved Miller out of college.

For Herm's many faults, the man knows how to coach up a DB. Put some time into Miller and you may have one hell of a player on your hands. One of the Carr/Miller combo may even be a passable FS if we get lucky.

Lots of potential there, I'd be as excited about him as I was about Bradley.

He's a great kickoff returner but sucks at coverage.

I was thinking the same thing. those guys wouldn't be that expensive either.

The Chiefs could use a passrusher and KGB has been pretty good at it throughout his career. Miller was named to the probowl in 2006. but Im wondering if it was as a CB or special teamer?

no kgb guys according to this we signed jason babin today he used to be decent for the texans and hes still young heres the story it wont let me post a link

News 3 has learned that former Western Michigan All-American Jason Babin will sign a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs today. The Paw Paw native was released by the Seattle Seahawks September 17th, just over a year after being acquired in a trade with the Houston Texans.

A number of teams showed interest in Babin, including the 9-0 Tennessee Titans, but ultimately the Kansas City deal gives him an opportunity to play right away and hopefully secure a long term deal for 2009. The former first round draft pick registered a career high five sacks in 2006, but never saw significant playing time with Seattle and was deemed expendable.

Babin is the only first round draft pick in WMU history. Houston selected him with the 27th overall pick in 2004. His first game in a Chiefs uniform could be this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Maurice Leggett can go.

I still believe Leggett has too much potential to waive, but the signing of Miller would allow Leggett to be the 4th CB thus reducing pressure while he develops.

But you suggested a reasonable strategy for handling him.

Holy shit! In that first vid, you can really see him just run away from the defenders on that first punt return. Amazing speed!

Because he is old, and has not done shit for a few years now.. Smart move by us not picking him up, get somebody that has a shot at being in the league after next year instead of stopgap that is behind his better days..

Didn't read the repsonses yet but I've watched him since college through his time with the NYJ. He just never developed as a corner. Doesn't have any ball awareness whatsoever. He'd still be looking at the receiver as the ball was about to land right in their hands. Very good speed though and he's had some really nice hits on ST's. He has value as a KR, second best return average in league history IIRC. He'd be a nice pickup for KC.

Edited to add: Him and LJ would probably be good buddies - Miller was arrested for hitting a woman in the face about a year ago after leaving a bar.

Raiders claimed CB/KR Justin Miller off waivers from the Jets.

Miller was a hot commodity on waivers because he can be an explosive return man, but Oakland shouldn't be hoping he can cover anyone. That probably means he'll immediately join the starting lineup at cornerback. Miller is under contract for $520,000 this year and will be a free agent in March.

I'm pretty sure they didn't. It goes by current record once you're halfway through the season. Schefter says the Raiders, Dolphins, and Broncos were the 3 teams to put in claims. It doesn't speak well for him that the guys who have coached him in the past don't want him.
