Just watched it in person, about 60 miles away.

Is that the launch on their home page? All I see is a dot of light moving around.

Incredible. While it was still on the ground, but the engines had ignited, the whole sky lit up.

That'd be cool. I've never really thought about it, but it'd be neat to watch a launch live.

Looked like dawn.

Saw the boosters separate and fall away, still burning.

Ask Mikey if you can come to his house.

The rumble rattles the windows, but it doesn't get here till about a minute after the launch.

If he brings the beer, we're on.

Hey, Mikey, can youi really see much from 60 miles besides a fireball, maybe? That'd be so freakin' cool.

Sounds good. I'm on my way. Can I have my own room, though? I figure it'll be a year or so before the next launch.

Yeah, just a big fireball, and as I said, the whole sky lights up...the lighting effect on the clouds is hard to describe, but really cool. When the engines first light up, the clouds are illuminated from underneath...as the shuttle rises above them, the tops are illuminated...

Yeah, I've got a spare bedroom, but your gonna have to park that apricot colored car in the back.

No, unfortunately I'm not much at photography...
