I've noticed that when certain people start a thread I don't even think about opening it....

what thread starters do you ignore?

Reerun KC's, mostly. The guy is pretty one-dimensional and it makes his threads incredibly dull to me now.

I open all poop threads like a male teenager eager to open his playboy's in lust.

pretty much read them all...even if it's a poster i really don't care for. never know when you might find something funny or interesting.

Nah, for me it's all about the thread title. I have missed out on some pretty good discussions just because the thread title was ignorant. Generally if there is a big blatant typo in the thread title I pass on it. I rarely check to see who started a thread unless its a repost.

How about ones you ALWAYS open because of who started it?

Rain Man, definitely

I don't discriminate on the basis of who starts the thread. Although there are certain members of the board who, 99.9% of the time, start a dumbassary thread, I live for that 0.01% of the time when they actually post something worth reading.

About the same as what I said before. I have seen most people start a thread that I have absolutely NO interest in reading or discussing and then the next thing you know they start one that I'm interested in. For instance, Claythan's thread about "LOL NFL pics" is one of the most IGNORANT threads I have ever seen but occasionally he will start one that is half way....never mind. :) ;)

I usually read the thread title before the thread starter and rarely allow the author to influence my reading, BUT this Darthcarlwhatever guy rarely posts anything worthwhile. I ignore his threads.

Dartgod is another whose threads I never open. I don't even bother responding to his nonsense... damn it!! It happened again!

I dont really not open a thread depending on who started it, but if I don't like the topic then I don't open it.

I always feel ignored, but that's okay.

alpha_omega
11-19-2008, 04:42 PM
For me, it is all about the topic and not about the person who posted.

I don't really pay attention to who has started a thread. I also never look at most threads, because they just don't look particularly interesting.

I don't really discriminate in the Lounge. I avoid threads from a few posters in DC though.

I don't pay any attention. Maybe I should. It might help me avoid idiot thread starters.

While I do look at who started a thread, the subject is usually the deciding factor.

Only on occasion. I'm remotely interested in political discussion, but DC is too much bipartisan arguing for me to take, so I just kind of pop in to see what news the day has brought for the most part.

Me too. I go in there once in awhile to see what they are arguing about. But they all line up along party lines so it is the same thing over and over. Very boring.

I don't read many of the Herm/Carl/Chiefs suck threads. There are only so many ways to say it.

I also don't read many of the draft threads until about a month before the draft. Until then they are mostly irrelevant. I don't get discussing the draft before knowing the draft order and available players. Maybe it's just me.

On the other hand, I will open just about any thread that involves barbecue or gorilla trapping. I'm a sucker for gorilla threads.

I ignore most of direkshun's stuff - he's one dimensional and posts speculative garbage, repeatedly and it's terribly old and a waste of time.
