View Full Version : Football Overuse of the word "Great"

The way that most of the pre-game guys on TV characterize EVERY player that is doing well as "GREAT" is driving me insane. Example: When they are breaking down a play that player X makes, and they explain it like so,"watch this catch by Player X, now that is what makes him GREAT."

Great, IMO, is Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, the Bears 85' defense, the NE teams of the 00's. Not a 2nd and 3rd year player making a nice catch, only to be labeled as great GREAT 10 times before, during, and after the breakdown of the play. They are diluting the word.
