I suggested the Orff, then realized that I did something that annoys me when people make youtube embeds and didn't say what song I embedded. I went back and edited my post.

What inspired you to choose Gustav Holst?

In answer to your question, I would choose Gustav Mahler. Mahler was the greatest composer of the 19th & 20th century. Not only did Mahler introduce large orchestras in movements, he's also the first to compose music about his life. I love his music -- It is very emotional. But beautiful.

Aside from the music, the conductor, Gustavo Dudamel is the hottest thing to hit the classical music scene. At age 27, Dudamel is set to take over the Los Angeles Philharmonic in January.

Gustavo Dudamel conducts the La Scala Philharmonic in the Finale of Mahler's 3rd Symphony 6th Movement.

This is also amazing, especially if you're into strings. (3:39 the strings kicked in)

Gustav Mahler First Sympathy, Last movement Gustavo Dudamel and The Scala Philarmonic.

I Like Adagio for Strings, but it depends on what kind of dramatic you're looking for

I Like Adagio for Strings, but it depends on what kind of dramatic you're looking for

Samuel Barber’s ‘Adagio for Strings' Leonard Slatkin conducts the BBC Orchestra 'In honor of those who died on 9/11' Broadcast live from the Albert Hall in London September 15 2001.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RRMz8fKkG2g&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RRMz8fKkG2g&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

"The Last Night concert went on as scheduled, with United States and British flags waving in the Royal Albert Hall. A minute's silence was observed by the players and audience, and Slatkin's introduction reflected the mood of the occasion. "One thing became very clear to us," he said to the audience, "that the very special nature of the Last Night of the Proms for this night would not be the same. What was to be a celebration of the new--me--and the traditions--you--would have to be put aside for a moment. We use music tonight to express all the emotions we all feel."

"Samuel Barber's somber is "considered by many as the 'saddest classical' work ever"

Here's dramatic. Basically, the piece is one long movement that builds up to an overwhelming and famous crescendo.
