I know you guys up in KC got snow the day before we did down here. It was pretty cold Monday, actually pretty nice yesterday, then freezing again tonight. What does everyone keep their thermostats set on in the winter. Mine's on 68.

Hell, I have no idea what the thermostat is set on, it doesn't matter since it hardly runs with the woodstove going. It's probably 80 in my basement right now.

I've discovered a design flaw in my new place. My bedroom closet is along the outer wall of the building, and jets out a little. If I close my closet door (which I normally do), then all of my clothes are cold in the morning.

We had the 3rd hottest November on record around here. (That sucked) I am ready for some cold to the bone weather. I am one that likes the 4 seasons. My heating cost isn't bad after I hung that fireplace insert with the blower about 4 years ago. That thing keeps the house as hot as I want it at any given time. I don't even think about firing that beast up until it reaches down to 15 degrees or less, or it gets REALLY hot in the living room. I also have a wood burning stove in the shop with a blower. It can be -40 outside and I can work in there in a tee shirt.

In the winter of 2005, I was in my 6th year of working for the City of KCMO. I worked outside quite a bit, and one day when I was filling my van up on the complex, I turned to one of the guys and said "I think this is going to be my last winter in Missouri".

Next winter, my ass was in Arizona.

But I suppose that's what happens when you go to school in upstate New York, anything over 40 feels warm. New Jersey is usually about 10 degrees warmer than where I go to school.

Isn't there something about an old wives tale saying that whatever day of the month you get your first snow on, then that's how many days you'll get snow that year? For instance, it snowed here for the first time on 11/30, so we will have thirty days where it's snowing this season.

Or golf tees.

Temperature doesn't vary much more than 10 degrees here in the winter.
Tomorrow's high is 48 with 39 low, Sat. is 49 high, 42 low. Definitely not like back there (home) where it's not unusual for a 30 degree difference.
