Do you expect a Christmas Bonus this year? Will it be smaller than last year or about the same?

Nice!

Thank you. I was pretty pumped. Not expecting it at all. Especially after our "Budget Crunch" meeting earlier this week.....

Nothing yet. I'm guessing since I've only been at my current job a few months if I get anything, it will be minimal.

If we get one, it's in Feb. or March (fiscal year-end?)

I have my hopes up.

I expect something, but assume it will be down from last year based on volume and the overall economy.

Is it the french fries or the Big Macs that are down?

You gotta love mine. If I don't take any sick days (during the year), they pay me for those 5 days.
I can almost make my house payment this month now.

I'll get the same small bonus for Christmas, but I get a significant year end bonus in Feb! A bonus that I have worked hard all year to earn.

I will have zero for a christmas bonus, but am be looking a a rather large year end bonus, depending how this month shakes out. So far things are looking good for the year as a whole. Unless this month takes a complete dump, I am in good shape.

I don't deal with fancy buildings. I deal mostly with farmers. I guess I should have gone to KSU and learned to speak dumbass.

My company has a 3 phase, year long contest with a great reward. For the second year in a row, I have won all 3 phases. I beat out 4 other departments for it....I was so ahead in August, I couldn't be caught. You'd think the other department heads would catch a clue since the GM presents it in front of all of them.

The only thing I get as a "bonus" is the option to sell my sick days. I never, ever use my sick days, so it's equivalent to an extra paycheck ...

I'll get one. They go up every year based on seniority, and since I've been at my firm 8 years, they're getting pretty good now.

I just hope civilization doesn't collapse before 2010 - that's when I go over 10 years and finally get that 4th week of vacation.

We used to get bonuses but that ended last year when they decided to give away gifts at the company party. Pretty lame gifts too. Trying to replace a $200 gift card with a kid's flying toy doesn't cut it. But whatever...I still have a job.

No, no Christmas bonus.

I am hopeful that we'll have the money to pay the January rent for the store location I manage. Actually, I'll be happy just to still have a job.

BWillie

I also get no xmas bonus. Actually, we get a pay cut in 2009. We used to work 38.75 hours, now we work 40 hours a week at the same salary. Pay cuts rule!

Why? Over 93% of the work force has a job. I don't feel very lucky. I feel rather average.

We would basically be on call 24/7 giving up lots of holidays. And we'd get a coupon for either a ham or turkey.

Congrats to those still working and getting raises tho.

Merry Christmas

Unless you work in a countercyclical industry, I think you should just be happy if you have a job by this Christmas.I work in the manufacturing sector. My employer just purchased a $400,000 machine. They expect to gain another 2-3 million dollars of work for this particular machine for 2009.

We get a christmas ham.

We also got about $450 in bonus money this month, but that was for hitting a sales goal. (150 for the low target, 300 more for the big one) The timing couldn't have been better.

Sales goal? Do you actually sell stuff? Any parts store I ever went to just waited on the people who walked in the door. Maybe you changed jobs while I wasn't looking.

Sales goal? Do you actually sell stuff? Any parts store I ever went to just waited on the people who walked in the door. Maybe you changed jobs while I wasn't looking.Nah, my place isn't like that. It's a dealership that deals with fleet customers all over the country. Yellow Freight, Roadway, etc...

We deal with Mack, Volvo, Freightliner, GM, Isuzu, UD, etc... That's one reason we're still doing pretty well in a tough time... we're pretty diverse... and parts are our money maker.

If people aren't buying new trucks or passenger vehicles, they have to have parts to keep the old ones on the road.

So do you go out and call on these customers?

So do you go out and call on these customers? Not me personally, but we do have several outside salesmen.

Or sales bonuses are done as a group, for instance, we had to do 3mil in sales in a month to get that $300 "big" bonus. Everyone gets that, from the countermen (like me) to the delivery drivers, and order pullers. It's a big place. We've got like 60 employees in the parts dept. alone.

I'm glad we don't have individual bonuses. The back-stabbing and sale-stealing would be brutal.

I am hoping for a case of beer for my bonus.
