Derrick Vincent Thomas, #58

My favorite Chiefs player of all time.

If it weren't for Carl we never would of been able to enjoy having one of the best pass rushers in the game as a Chief.

A retarded chimp would have drafted DT.

I do not really remember the draft class, but there were 3 retarded chimps ahead of King Chimp who didn't pick him.

Agreed and agreed.

But he still picked him and I am glad he did. Maybe it was an easy pick. But then again we are talking about Carl, king of fucking up draft picks. It was his only good pick out of how many?

Only one of them were retarded.

Troy Aikman went #1 that year, and Barry Sanders went #3.

Tony Mandarich went #2 to the Packers...

along with DT, I thank Carl for a few other things,

And there was a lot of debate at the time if we should take DT or Broderick Thomas out of Nebraska. It's never easy.

And would you say Madarich's pick was <=> DT?

I really hope the Chiefs don't get the #2 overall pick. Tony Mandarich really scares me.

Yeah. If Carl had been let go once Marty quit, I don't think anyone would look back on his run as GM with so much loathing.

I credit Carl for trading up to get TG. Trading for Montana. Good moves. However, neither netted a SB.

I agree, there was more than ONE thing he did good.

But out of all them and of course my opinion is biased, DT was my favorite.

Yes it was. The Chiefs have occassionally done the "no brainer" smart thing and picked the best player at their point in the first round:

1. DT
2. Neil Smith
3. Dale Carter

There have been a few of those, but far too few. What we've been cursed by instead are the Trezelle Jenkins and Ryan Simms of the world.

Giving Carl credit for Derrick Thomas is silly in my opinion. A broken clock is right twice a day and a blind squirrel still finds nuts once in awhile. In other words, a total incompetent probably wouldn't have done much worse.

I do think Carl was pretty sharp and aggressive early in his tenure with the Chiefs, but the last ten years have been beyond brutal. He got fat and lazy, and the Chiefs just died.

since we are thanking Carl, I also want to thank him for Chester McGlockton, Ryan Sims, Carlton Gray, Kendrell Bell, Napolean Harris, Dan Williams, Vonnie Holliday, Trezelle Jenkins and for running Joe Horn, John Tait, Rich Gannon and Jared Allen out of town and not winning a playoff game in 15 years

You left out Keith Traylor and Neil Smith who he figured were not good enough to re-sign.

As much as Carl had to go, he brought football back to KC in the 90's and made the fans actually care about the time. He on the back end was starting lose them.

So i dont hate Carl, it was just time for him to go.
