I see that no chief is wearing it.

So it makes me wonder did the Chiefs retire this number, I know that they retired # 18. But starting off Devard Darling was # 89 this year, but when TE Michael Allan was released he changed his number to 81 from 89.

So did they finally retired # 89 ?

Off the top of my head I remember Henry Marshall, Keith Cash, Pete Mandley, and Bad Moon wearing it.

I've always wondered why #89 was never retired.

If you check the retired numbers thread from yesterday you would know that in order to have your number retired by the Chiefs you must be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There are three exceptions. Johnson and Hill who both died from injuries while playing for the Texans/Chiefs and Haynes who was considered the first AFL Superstar. That is why Lamar would not allow Carl to retire #58.

Speaking of Bad Moon ....how about Version 2.0...acquiring Marvin Harrison when Indy cuts him?

Wont happen. Especialy if Herm is still around. Doesnt fit in the youth movement. Plus Marvin is on the downfall, he's done seen his better days.

I want to say that Henry Marshall, former Missouri Tiger and Chiefs WR wore that number right after he entered the League in '76 (the year after Otis retired). He wore that number until he retired in the late 80's
