Did he really do this? Can you? He would certainly hold the record for most bonehead timeouts.

He really did it. He called timeout to decide whether to challenge then lost the challenge. I think that's how it was.

it is illegal to call two timeouts on one play. however they managed to do it by taking a time out to discuss whether or not they should challenge a play, which they lost.

so not only did they waste a timeout, they made a bad challenge given extra time to see if they could win or not

am i summarizing this properly.?

In retrospect, that's actually kind of funny.

Most rookies ever to start/ make the team for the Chiefs in a season. If most of them pan out, I would call that a positive.

Good one. Would that fall in the positive or negative category?

Has LJ looked anywhere near as dominant since that 400+ carry year?

Nope. Burned out a franchise-talented RB, though said rb has off-field issues that throw his potential greatness into question without that record-setting year.

he's had alot of kickers in his 3 years as well.
most punts in a season?
most QB's in 1 quarter.

at 1-7, Herm has to have set the "worst home record" record as well.

triple

of course we'll probably end up 1-7 on the road too, so it would be worst home, worst road, and worst record in history

worst win % for any head coach?

As far as I know Herm is the only coach to lose 2 QB's to IR in the same game twice. (Chiefs/Jets)

Negative: Set an unofficial record for mismanagement of the clock.
Negative: Set an unofficial record for most B.S. in a press conference.
Negative: Set an unofficial record for overall fan apathy in the league.
Negative: Set an unofficial record for throwing the most people under the bus.

you can say what you want about Herm, but without Herm. Carl Peterson would probably be back next year.

Agreed. This would fall under: Fewest first downs in the 1st 45 minutes of a playoff (and possibly any) football game: 1.

I'm not sure if this record is tracked, but he's got to have the record for most unsuccessful challenges. Granted, he's only the second coach since the red flag started, but I find it hard to believe his mark will be beaten anytime soon after he's gone. He's got to be leading the league right now too.

We could also throw in records that Herm has let other teams set against us. They set 1 or 2 every week.

Negative:

Most losses in a 2 year span(25 going on 26). The previous record was 24 held by the 77-78 Chiefs which was done by 3 coaches(Bettis, Wiggin and Levy)

Most points given up in any game in franchise history(54). The previous record was 51 in an OT game at Seattle in 83. The record for most points allowed in Arrowhead was 45 against Pittsburgh in 1976.

Most losses at home in any season(7). Herm tied the record last year and broke it this year.

Worst defense in franchise history so far. If Cincinnati scores 11 points Sunday, the Chiefs will have allowed the most points in franchise history. The previous record was set in 2004. If the Chiefs allow 286 or more yards to Cincinnati, Herm's team will have given up the most yards in franchise history as well.

Positive:

Not a g*d damn thing.

How many offenses in Chiefs history were worse then that 2007 Herm offense? That offense should be good for some type of negative record.

Is it possible Herm might have coached both the worst offense and worst defense in Chiefs history? hhahahahah...and we gave up a 4th rounder for this guy. hahahah Don't say you weren't warned.

You are right. The 2007 Chiefs have the franchise low for points in a 16 game season. The 1977 Chiefs scored 1 less point than last year's team, but that was in a 14 game season. So if the Bengals score 11 points this week, Herm will have the worst offense and defense in franchise history.

I've been talking about this for some time. It's quite embarrassing. But Herm says there's no blame. It's just how the cards fall.

glad someone compiled this. It seemed for a 5 game stretch this year, Herm's team was setting a new team worst record with each week. Did Oakland set a record in our first match-up for most rushing yards allowed by a Chiefs team? What about his held scoreless of, was it 11, quarters? Any of those team records?

And the loss today did put Herm in the record books as coaching the team with the worst record in KC history. A win would've put him ahead of the 1977 team, but believe it or not Herm couldn't get it done.
