But I'm getting to the point where I would like to permanently shut up the yapping whining dog next door. Every time my neighbor leaves, that damn dog yips, barks, and whines for two hours. Whenever it does shut up, if I make the slightest sound it can hear, it starts up again. What do I do? Leave a note on her door? "Hey, your dog doesn't like it when you leave. Guess how I know this. Signed, Your Neighbor."

Apartment. I don't see why they allow dogs. I love them, but they are not meant for apartments, IMO.

You should turn it over to your apartment mgmt. That's what they're paid for. You might also document for a week prior to doing so. They're more apt to take you seriously if you're not some random complainer they can brush off.

I guess I would call the landlord and ask if there is anything they could do. Maybe they arent supposed to have a dog...

You could scratch on an adjoining wall until you hear the dog come over to check it out, then crank a nail gun up to 90PSI and shoot a few nails into the wall.... that or antifreeze under the front door.

I hate it when people don't know how to choose the right dog. They get a complete mismatch based on some TV show or Disney bullshit, and everybody pays the price.

The dog is suffering from separation anxiety. Maybe you could offer to babysit the poor feller.:D

I wonder if I should suggest calling security whenever it happens. They patrol our lots every night. I know it's not an emergency, but that would be an official way to document it. Have them come and listen.

I'm surprised that they allow them. Over the years I've worked in countless different apartment complexes, and I can only remember two that ever did. And you're right, dogs don't belong in apartments. And don't think this problem disappears when you move into a house, the guy who lives behind me has two extremely annoying POS dogs that never shut up as long as they're outside. I love dogs too, but I would kick both those fuckers straight into the next time zone without hesitation if I had the chance.

Documentation is key. People always take you more seriously when you've taken the time to show that it's a consistent issue instead of a one-time deal or think you're a prima donna.

Get a hold of some phenobarbital and pour some of that in a water dish, that should make them pretty lethargic without causing harm. Use to give some to one of our cats everyday because it had major seizures.

And where, pray tell, can one get ones hands on that? If I had some Barb, it wouldn't be going in the cat/dogs fuckin' dish!ROFL

As a homeowner I've never had a problem with neighbor pets. Of course, I have a pellet gun.

All my neighbors have fucking stupid yapping dogs that bark for HOURS after I pull up to the house, if I'm in the yard, if I take out the trash.

This...bothers me.

I work 3rd shift. I'm up ALL NIGHT LONG.

Dog whistle: $8.00
Natty light 12 pack: $9.99
Drinking my 12 and sitting on my front porch while making every fucking dog in the neighborhood scream and bark and howl when THEY are trying to sleep and there isn't a damned thing they can do or suspect?

$#it is priceless...

Greatest...Cat...Ever:

One of my roommates mom back in the day had three cats that we had to care for while she went out of state.

My fav was a HUGE black tomcat named Bruiser. You could walk over to him and say "wanna' go for a ride"? And he'd jump up on your shoulder and wrap around your neck like a mink stole, and just happily hang there while you walked around.
