Chiefs Next GM Expected To Bring In His Own Coach

Multiple NFL executives believe Herman Edwards will not return next season as the Chiefs coach and they believe it is only a matter of time before the change is made. Once the Chiefs hire a general manager, the belief is that he will bring in his own head coach, which probably would not bother Edwards one bit, being that he has a year left on his contract and he would be free to seek employment elsewhere. Chiefs general manager candidates are thought to include Patriots executive Scott Pioli, Colts vice president of football operations Chris Polian, Tampa Bay’s director of pro personnel Mark Dominik and San Diego’s director of player personnel Jimmy Raye.

Despite the KC fan hatred, Herm will get another head coaching gig down the line.

No kidding. This guy isn't getting work as a head coach when the axe drops (I hope, anyway). Although, in his arrogance, he probably thinks he's a top candidate.

Some stupid ass will fear the hammer of discrimination and will be forced to hire Herm by the NFL....

Herm will HC in this league again, with sub standard results...

If this is the case, why not fire him now instead of leaving him and all the asst coaches twisting in the wind.

Possibly, if he can find a GM that agrees an offense scoring too fast is a bad thing.

Or if he can get a fanbase to swallow everything he says about fixing defenses...

I would love to bet you on that....I seriously, seriously doubt Herm will ever be a head coach in the NFL again. He may be a D-coordinator (he's never done it...but someone might give him a shot)... but right now he's YEARS away from every getting another shot as a head coach. Maybe you don't understand just how bad he's been in KC....and his last year in NY.

Yep, Lovie Smith just fired his DB's coach and his D-Coordinator is expected to get the axe next. So yea, I could see it.

As a HC, maybe the Ford family or the Bungals??? ROFL

I will be highly surprised if Herm is not HC in the NFL for the 2010 season.

Of course I also pity the poor team that does this but that will no longer be my concern by then.

hiring a Head Coach is all about the interview

I'd agree with that if it didn't underestimate the stupidity of some NFL front offices. There's a reason why some teams go decades without playoff wins... :(

Wounldn't that be a wonderful turn of events. On another forum someone wrote:

"So if the Raiders hired Gilbride, they would have a former Chargers head coach leading them and the Chargers would continue with former Raiders head coach, Norv Turner. The only thing left would be for the Chiefs to hire Mike Shanahan and the Broncos to go after Marty Schottenheimer."

I would like to give Denver Herm instead. .... Plus, I really don't want Shanny. Over the last 10 years he has not been a winning coach, and we don't have Elway (yet) on our rooster
