Just got reservations made for March Madness and going to be in Vegas March 18-24 and thought I'd toss this out in case anyone else was thinking about heading out for the Tourney and wanted to hook up for some hops-n-hoops.

Also,if you're a Harrah's Rewards member you might want to check out prices now because I just got a room for 6 nights at The Flamingo for $251.79 tax and all.

Cheers :toast:

Have you been to the Hilton sportsbook yet?

IMO,it's the best Vegas has to offer and I'll be there for at least 2 days of the games so it's a plan,we'll hook up and say hey.

Well, it is VERY possibly that I will be hosting Hoops Central, or at least my radio station will be hosting. For those planning on coming, I will take care of you in regards to VIP treatment at the HIlton Theater, if my radio station is the host.

BY the way, Hoops Central is held in the Barry manilow theater, where they also host Football Central. Its a huge theater with big screens and all the games on. Way too much fun. By far the best place to watch march MAdness and Sunday Football in town. And the famous Sportsbook Nzoner speaks of is a hop, skip and a jump away. But, the Hilton places a Mini-book right outside the theater so you can place bets in just a hop.

As we were leaving myself and my friend got two double crown and cokes apiece. I think we drank about $300 worth of liquor and got it all free thanks to Carlota. My friend passed out at the restaurant a couple hours after the game. Good times. It's just too bad I will be up there the weekend before. Oh well I'm sure I will have a good time on my own but anyone who has a chance to take advantage of this get together should.

Also see my Av for what I brought back from that trip to Vegas.

The Sahara is closer, but I'd stay at the Imperial Palace over Sahara in a heartbeat. You can get to the Hilton from both by monorail, but the location of IP can't be beat. It's literally at the middle of the strip so you have much better access to a bunch of properties. The rooms are comparable.

Cool.

Last time I went to Vegas I lost 95% of my bankroll on the first day, and made back about 90% of it at the Sahara, it will always have a special place in my heart...

Sounds good.

I don't have anyone to go with me yet, but I bet I could find someone to split the $220 tab w/ me by March.

What day is the official opening of the tourney?

I want to make sure I can get some bets in before I'd have to leave.

Tourney starts Thursday the 19th,so you'd have time to get bets in.

I also agree with Dart, stay at IP,and while you're at it get a Harrah's Rewards card and use it when placing your bets at their properties, they're rewards program is thumbs up

I just got comped a 3 night stay, 50 dollar match play, and $20 credit at the hotel steak house.

What I don't understand fiscally is why the casino would do this when I have already booked a hotel for 3 nights during the period with my comp is valid. I booked it through Expedia, so can cancel it for $14 and just use my comp now.

The hotel just lost $200 or so... I'm not complaining, just don't understand the reasoning behind the comp.

Could be the match play, they're wanting to make sure your gambling dollars stay with them.Which property is it?The Fitz on Freemont street. I stay there every year, except one year I stayed at the Plaza.

I really like the atmosphere of downtown over the strip. I go to the strip at night usually, but spend the day and evening on Freemont.

I went for the tournament last year and it was a blast. This year my friends and I are going at the end of May. A friend of mines' brother is turning 21, so we are going to celebrate it right.

I didn't see any good drink specials when I was in Vegas. $9 drinks mostly in the casinos.

I'm not a huge gambler, so I understand I won't get the free drinks at the tables, but people always make it sound like they are giving out big gulps full of vodka for $1 on every street corner.

On freemont though they have street vendors outside most of the casinos that sell pretty decently priced drinks, and then in a really small casino called The Bayou I think (mardi gras theme) they have the footballs of beer that Joe is talking about. Also yards of mixed drinks, all fairly reasonably priced.

If you want to go to a club, get a vip bracelet online before you go. Last year we did the club on top of the rio and it was front of the line VIP and all we could drink for $60.

If you're on the Strip and want a drink sit down at the bar and put $5 in the video poker machine. If you're downtown and want a mega drink the footballs are all over,I generally get mine at 4 Queens and a mixer is $13 for 55oz and $10 for refills, domestic beer is $7 and $5.They look like this

The Nugget actually adds a sportsbook on the 2nd floor in one of their convention rooms for March Madness that is pretty sweet....tons of TV's, food, BEER, and about 6-8 betting windows.......I am going to try and make it to the Hilton! Been doing this trip for about 15 years with the same group of guys and really look forward to it!

Joe,

Thanks for the PM. I will be at the Hilton Wednesday night. We will definitely meet up for a drink. I'll have a white Chiefs hat on most days.

Can't wait.

Would love to, but we blew all our vacation cash on a trip to Playa del Carmen in April.

I was looking at that, do tell us how it was when you get back. It looks fantastic!
