<!-- begin top part -->

<!-- end sidebar table --> The announcement will occur at USC's Heritage Hall, and Pete Carroll is returning from a trip to Hawaii to be at Sanchez's side for the announcement. Sources say that Sanchez has been discouraged from turning pro by family members and that Carroll asked his quarterback to wait until Thursday's NFL deadline for underclassmen to allow for a change of heart. If Sanchez submits his paperwork to the NFL on Thursday, as expected, he would have four days to change his mind, as long as he does not enter into an agreement with an agent. Hell yes! Let the Stafford/Sanchez debates begin!

Either one.

My head will explode if they go 1 and 2. Scared to death that a team will trade up into the 2 slot if St. Louis decides not to take a QB. I was pretty cool about the Pioli situation because most every candidates name that was mentioned (except the TB guy) sounded okay to me. This one has me freaking out and it's only January. This is likely our best shot at a franchise QB for a few years.

If we land one of these two, this off-season will set the table for years and years to come.

A #1 QB not working out will get you fired especially when you are an in house promoted guy and not a completely new person..

Take say Andre Smith is a supersafe pick. Some people do think about that, Carl always did.

For the 3 or 4 seasons that I've been following draft talk, it seems to me that the guys being tossed around as the top 10 in january bare very little resemblance to the top 10 that actually gets picked.

Remember when Leinart was supposed to go in the top 3? Then he dropped to 10.

I like Sanchez' upside. He looks like a great pro prospect, I just don't like his lack of experience. If we get him, Thigpen HAS to be the starter next season. From listening to talk about him on Sirius, the consensus seems to be that he needs another year in college to develop, because he is not ready yet. My biggest fear is that Stafford/Sanchez is the next Manning/Leaf, and we end up drafting Leaf. You can't help but wonder if Ryan Leaf's career would have been better had he just stayed in school one more year.

I agree. I think any reasonable football fan would too. He has to do his "clipboard holding internship" for a minimum of one season, and get acclimated to the process, the players, and the system.

LOS ANGELES -- USC quarterback Mark Sanchez will skip his senior season to enter the NFL draft.

Sanchez and Georgia's Matthew Stafford, another junior coming out early, are considered the top two quarterback prospects in the draft. Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford of Oklahoma decided to return to school next year.

Sanchez is coming off a spectacular Rose Bowl against Penn State. The fourth-year junior went 28-for-35, setting a Rose Bowl record by completing 80 percent of his passes. He threw for 413 yards and four touchdowns, and also ran for a score in the Trojans' 38-24 victory over Penn State.

I don't know why, Mitch Mustain might be even better than Sanchez.

Mitch Mustain.... Couldn't beat out Casey Dick at Arkansas ROFL

Stafford to the Lions and Sanchez to the Rams.

man, can the lions organization be that dumb to dump another rookie QB into the worst team in the league without building around him first?

I guess the answer is yes but hopefully they have 'what alcoholics refer to as a "moment of clarity"' and not a Harrington relapse.

Stafford to the Lions and Sanchez to the Rams.If that were to happen this place would melt down. I figure the Chiefs would then draft the LT from Alabama and move Albert back to the right side.

As a true freshman while stuck in an offense that featured the wildcat formation as a staple.

Damian Williams struggled his freshman year too so he sucks also, right?

Meanwhile, Sanchez couldn't beat out John David Booty.

Carroll looked like an asshole in the press conference. He acts like he was a freshman and not in his fourth year.

Stafford to the Lions and Sanchez to the Rams.

Detroit to the Super Bowl and St. Louis to the Super Bowl, and the Chiefs with thumb up ass.

Yayy!!!
