View Full Version : Chiefs Cowher in 2010?

CBS analyst Boomer Esiason said on his WFAN-NY radio show this week that he would not be surprised if Chiefs GM Scott Pioli hired Bill Cowher to coach Kansas City in 2010.
Esiason may be speculating, but he works with Cowher at CBS and knows that Pioli and Cowher are close friends. The Cowher-to-Kansas City talk would ratchet up a couple of notches if Herm Edwards is retained as head coach with one year left on his contract.

BTW, I am happy for you guys for getting Pioli.

saw/heard this... seemed to be just flinging shit around...

If Cowher was really the guy.... go get him this year... throw money at him and get him, don't pretend to field a Herm team next season.

Interesting. It would be nicer if it happened THIS year...

he may be speculating?

MAY?

Of course that's speculation...100%.

As I understand it, Cowher wants full control of football operations, which he won't get here. Doesn't make much sense from that angle.

Money usually solves all problems.

Why on Earth would we wait a year? If he's our guy, you get him NOW-I don't think he's our guy.

Well, at least it lubricates the problems so they don't chafe quite as badly.

Then again, Pioli wanted total control of all operations, which he wouldn't get in Kansas City due to Clark splitting the duties, according to our beloved friends in the media...

Exactly. Plus if KC with Pioli was such a desirable destination for Cowher, he'd do it now. Why wait until 2010?

Imagine Pioli and Cowher?

That would be incredible for this franchise.

I've heard that Pioli IS getting full control, and that Thum is relinquishing his power to Pioli.

Only if I can chase them with a bottle of scotch.

What exactly are the requirements to start a thread here, BTW?

I wouldn't mind bringing him in to play linebacker, he could start immediately.

Cowher has said he will stay put until his girl graduates this year. He made the promise and it looks like he is keeping it. That is why it would be in 2010.

I don't care what he said. If he really wanted to coach in KC, his daughters would f'n understand.

Boomer was on 810 during the 9 o'clock hour and dispelled this rumor.

He was speculating about what team would be a "good fit" for Cowher, and apparently he and Pioli have a very good relationship.

Just talk. Nothing more. Definitely not a "report."

Boomer is just speculating.

However, if there was/is a shed of truth to this...Herm should probably just go ahead and resign now.

Adam Teicher on Cowher:

Cowher to Chiefs?

<!-- END tabs --><!-- begin content -->His CBS colleague, Boomer Esiason, thinks Cowher is coming to Kansas City to coach the Chiefs but not until 2010. A solid move, no doubt, but if the Chiefs are serious about this, they can't afford to wait.

The big spenders from Dallas and Washington will probably be looking for a coach next January. The Chiefs don't want to get into a bidding war with either team, or worse yet both, over Cowher.

So if it's Cowher that Scott Pioli really wants coaching the Chiefs, he'd better make his move now.

Yes. Why waste an entire NFL season on "waiting"? Do it now or go another direction.

YUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!! Move forward for crying out loud. Let the old coaches stay retired, and the old ways die. Time for some new blood. Bye Herm, and welcome new ideas whomever it is.

If it waits until 2010 I bet on Shanahan because of the reports of the friendship between Shanahan and Belichick.

This is not going to happen. You can't bring Herm back with just a year left on his contract. Unless of course part of Pioli's plan is to pick in the top 5 again next year.

No thanks we already hired a coach who was burnt out. We didn't win a playoff game.
