I would have to agree with TommyHawk69 on the mixed emotions. I have had a strong dislike for Shanny for so long, it would be hard to be in the same camp with him.

That being said, we need to develop a QB (Thiggy or otherwise) and I think he would be a good coach for helping develop a franshise QB. As long as we bring in a good DC and give him the power to run the D, I think I could learn to tolerate Shanny. I believe he is the best offensive minded coach available.

Since when is Shanny a great developer of QBs? The only time he won was when he gave Elway a running game. Pretty sure the reason McDaniels was brought in to D-town was to help in Cutler's development.

Rumors based on television reports bite. The whole Mike Shanahan-to-the-Chiefs buzz has had my b.s. detector beeping since yesterday afternoon. I just ain't buying it, especially since The Star's NFL writers aren't reporting anything. NFL.com's Adam Schefter, who used to work in Denver and is about as plugged-in as it gets, writes this on his blog:

I became more OK with a possible Shannahan signing when I found out that Gunther was gone for sure.

2 real knocks against The Rat.

A) His defenses can be weak

B) Hasn't been to the big one without Elway

So, if we can pair Shannahan with a good / great defensive coordinator and draft a franchise QB that pans out, that might very well work.

Shannahan would also most likely make Charles, Cox, and Kolby Smith look like studs, negating the damage of the Larry Johnson fiasco.

So put me in the department of being ok with Shannahan IF we can also sign a solid D coordinator and let that D coord. run the show on that side of the ball and draft a franchise QB.

If we do get Shannahan, you guys that have been touting Sanchez better hope he's as good as you've claimed.

If nothing else, the rat would certainly attack Denver and Oakland with a vengeance and he's proven he can beat San Diego. So we'd have a shot at good division records.
