Sources: Linehan to run Lions' offense

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ESPN.com news services

Scott Linehan, the former St. Louis Rams coach who turned down the San Francisco 49ers' offer to become their offensive coordinator, has agreed to join the Lions in that position, team sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen on Friday.

Linehan declined the 49ers' offer Sunday, saying he wasn't ready to commit to his next coaching move.

Linehan, a respected former offensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings, was fired four games into his third season as the Rams' coach last September.

New Lions coach Jim Schwartz hired veteran assistant Gunther Cunningham as defensive coordinator Wednesday.

Linehan going the same route as Martz I see.

This time in a couple seasons I expect him to be running the offense for Singletary's Niners LOL

Yeah because the Lions job is better than the Niners....right Gunther?

Good luck to Linehan.

Regardless of whether or not his offense puts points on the board, Gun's failure will undoubtedly be his fault.

If it makes us feel any better, the Lions are showing exactly how NOT to do things once again. Their fast actions have netted them a new GM, new HC, new DC and now new OC.

In the same time span we've gotten a new GM and dropped some dead wood to the aforementioned team above.

Patience is a virtue.

When I heard one poster try to tie in "May the Schwartz be with you", that's all I needed to know.

Ugh.
