Damn, how about that steal and dunk by Taylor.

Both teams look awful right now. Kstate's nearly airballed an open 3, MU can't seem to finish anything. Offensive fouls both ways.

Hope it cleans up soon, I was looking forward to a good game tonight.

P.S. JT Tiller is a terrible pitchman.

Still no plan in the half court set.

Anderson needs his own Tex Winters. Go find someone that knows how to run an offense (it ain't Watkins). I like Anderson's ability to motivate, but he just seems sub-par from a tactical standpoint.

MU's playing a step behind the ball on defense.

And I'm convinced they have no GD idea what they're trying to do on offense. It's pathetic.

They're playing offense like they're in 5th grade gym. Everyone has to touch it once before they shoot, so they just pass it to all 5 guys with no real plan on what to do next. Then they jack up a 17 footer.

They look every bit as bad as they did against NE and Illinois.

So what do you think Anderson says during timeouts?

How the hell can you coach "run around like a bunch of crazy bastards chasing a chicken and huck up the first jumper you get"?

Whether or not this style is ultimately effective remains to be seen. However, I have no problem at all saying I hate it. Win or lose, this team is just not a team I enjoy watching. I've seen rec. teams with a more cogent philosophy.

I've seen this a few times here. What does it mean?

Back in the 1986 MLB playoffs Donnie Moore, ace relief pitcher for the Angles, came in to close out the ALCS. Instead, he gave up a two out, two strike, game leading homer to Dave Henerson of the BoSox.

The Angels tied it in the 9th, but Moore too the loss on a SF in the 11th.

He was never able to really overcome that professional defeat in his personal life. He was involved in a domestic dispute and killed himself three years later. (Hence... Donnie Moore yourself)

It's actually a shitty reference. I should not use it. But KC_ is kind of a shitty poster, so it evens out.

Mizzou strikes me as a very poorly coached team. Terrible in the offensive set. Never block out. Etc.

Question about Lyons, though. Kid looks a step slow. Is that just tonight, or does he lack an explosive first step?

Several times tonight it looked like he could take it to the rim on the baseline, but he would spin and pull it back out. I know the kid has NBA aspirations, but I just haven't seen it when I've watched the Tigers this year.

Anderson makes up for it with mediocre recruiting.

And Lyons has more skill than he displays pretty much every night. He's a floater. He has a solid (not elite) first step, but he just doesn't give a damn more nights than not.

I'll be happy to see him go.

That "40 minutes of hell" works against low level Div 1 teams and undermanned teams but not so much against quality opponents. They will break your press and get easy layups. It worked for Anderson at UAB but look at who they played. Oh well, we'll see.

See, that is the lucky shit they have been getting all night.. and then MU sticks their head up their ass

What was lucky about the steal of a bad (horrible) pass and beating the defender downcourt for the and one?

Pete, you don't watch much sports do you? Certainly, you don't watch Big XII BBall. You just complain.

My god, we've won 4 conference games in a row. We lead the nation in assists, assist/turnover ratio, we're top 5 in the nation in scoring, we're 17-3, and projected 8 seed in the Tourney, where we havent been in 5 years, and we have a crappy game against a team that WONT miss a freakin 3 pointer, and we're a bad coached team??

How about you watch when we blow Colorado out by 45 or Iowa State by 31? Or winning on the road in Stillwater??

This is just a bad game, K-State is hitting everything, its called COLLEGE BASKETBALL, it happens. Teams lose.

That "40 minutes of hell" works against low level Div 1 teams and undermanned teams but not so much against quality opponents. They will break your press and get easy layups. It worked for Anderson at UAB but look at who they played. Oh well, we'll see.

It works when coached well and with elite talent. Nolan Richardson actually ran the 40 minutes of hell and won big with it. It can work when you have a good coach that knows how to run it.

Anderson's not nearly that good, he's nowhere near Richardson. MU plays a bad version of it where they tend to chase the ball around. Sometimes they manage to trap it but about 50% of the time they end up screwing it up and someone gets an open look.

It's not a well coached team and Anderson doesn't recruit well enough to overcome his tactical shortcomings. I wanted a single tournament win out of Anderson this year, I don't think it's happening. I'd be just fine with the program moving on without him.

The Oklahoma State win was legit. Tried to give it away late, but still a very nice win.

It's not unusual for Anderson's teams to come out slow on the road. Nebraska, for example, and late in close games they have had problems executing. This was certainly the case last year, even failing to get off shots in last-second situations.

This is an improved Tiger team, but I stand by my comment. I don't think they're particularly well coached.

It almost looked like it was gameplanned that way.

Carroll never even seemed to consider going underneath. He's the toughest guy on the team, I have a hard time believing he just didn't feel like taking the hits.

Tiller didn't play well, but I never questioned his effort.

Lyons and Denmon, on the other hand, seemed to really mail it in. English didn't really seem interested either.

They did the same thing in Nebraska, who doesn't have a player above 5'10". Granted, those little suckers play tough D, but come on...

Especially on the offensive end. We were no where near the rim and they always had 2 or 3 guys there.

Yea, we're kind of a weird team. If the three ball is going, we'll challenge anybody in this league. Especially at home. We were shooting pretty well going into conference play and then OU rolled em, and I think that confidence was crushed.

From 0-4 to 2-4. I'm happy.

Their schedule before OU wasn't exactly very good, though. They do certainly live and die by the jump shot.

Agreed they destroyed MU in the paint

Yup, it was absolutely MU's "performance" on the glass that got them beat, at least beat this badly. We countered the 3's with several of our own, we could have survived those.

We couldn't stand up to the offensive boards, 2nd chance points and virtual damn layup line that the low post became.

I understand that Anderson's system is predicated on speed and depth, but this team needs some bigs in a major way. Can you imagine how badly they'll be beat up next season with Carroll gone? This isn't the NAIA, you need some muscle out there or this kind of thing is going to happen.

I don't see how MU handles Cole Aldridge. I'm thinking they'll need to use Carroll's speed to get him in foul trouble underneath.

False, and you know it.

You clearly think I care about that, you've painted me as a MU hater in your negative rep.

This really isn't all that important, and nobody really believes you (as evidenced by WtI's post), but I'm not going to let you act a victim here...

KC_Connection PM#1...

You seriously think I care whether Missouri wins any game in anything? Especially in basketball?

Honestly, I couldn't give a shit what your team does. I don't hate them. Not at all.

I only like calling out douches like frazod and that retard Pete when they deserve it. The deed is done, please fuck off.

My reply...
OK, my bad. If you're not obsessed with Mizzou, you're obsessed with their fans, as evidenced by you chasing Pete into the MU thread and sending me this message. If you weren't, you'd be the bigger man and just let his comments go (which by your own post didn't sound like anything personal against you, either).

Good job on doing this by PM, though. Now go clean that sandy vag.

Your retort...
No, I would have done the same thing to Pete had he been a KState fan or a UMKC fan or whatever. It had nothing to do with Missouri, and if you notice, I didn't make a comment about your team at all. Heck, I have no idea what the score is in that game. You know why....I don't care.

Again, it isn't my style. I call out idiotic morons like him.

LOL, you think I'm upset? All 3 of my favourite teams won tonight in sports, I'm doing alright.

At this point, I think to myself "what's the use", and let it drop.

Now, explain to me how I've "clearly painted you as an MU hater" here, if you please?

No. But it wasn't horrible. Should have/could have beaten Kentucky, Iowa Oregon. Different season if that happens. But still, nobody expected a lot from this team. Maybe a few tards.

Next year if our commits actually commit, we could get back in the top four.
