13 year olds are usually perfectly capable of making a baby. I don't see anything out of the norm.

I'm 31 now and parenting is every bit as challenging.
In different ways, but damn.

This kid and "his kid" will both be in school in another 5 years.

When my wife and I went through Lamaze there was a 12 year old couple in the class. The girl was still 12 when she had the child while the boy had just turned 13. Think of all the things he could share with his 7th grade classmates. The girls mom had to chaperone the young couple every week.

What is funny is the boy was our paper boy.

The latest is, this kid may not be the father. Alledgedly she was sleeping with 8 different boys. Do they need to give Maury Povich a call?

http://www.livenews.com.au/Articles/2009/02/15/Teens_come_forward_to_claim_they_fathered_13yearold_Alfies_daughter_

Two teenagers have come forward to claim paternity for the baby girl fathered by 13-year-old Alfie Patten, amid reports the child's mother Chantelle Steadman was sleeping with as many as eight boys.

British's The Sun revealed last week that 13-year-old Patten had fathered a girl called Maisie with his 15-year-old girlfriend Ms Steadman.

But according to another British publication - News of the World - there is a real possibility Alfie may not be little Maisie's father.

16-year-old Richard Goodsell has come forward claiming he regularly slept with Chantelle for three months around the time she became pregnant - and wants a DNA test to prove he's the child's father.

Another boy, 14-year-old Tyler Barker, is worried that he may also have fathered Maisie.

NOTW also claimed Ms Steadman was sleeping with as many as eight teenagers at the time the child was conceived.

“I know I could be the father. Everyone thinks I am. My friends all tell me that baby has my eyes - even my mum thinks so," said Goodsell.

“Only a DNA test is going to sort this out properly. If I am the father, I have the right to know.”

Schoolboy Barker admits he's terrified by the prospect he may be a father.

“I slept with Chantelle in her bed about nine months ago and I’m really worried I could be the father.," Barker told NOTW.

DNA test proves Alfie, 13, is not a dad

A boy who believed he'd impregnated his girlfriend at the age of 12 has been proven not to be a father by a DNA test.

Alfie Patten, now 13, took the test after six other teenagers came forward to claim they had also slept with Chantelle Steadman, the 15-year-old who gave birth to baby Maisie Roxanne last month.

The Daily Mirror reports the test has proven the infant is not Alfie's — a finding that is likely to leave the boy devastated.

"I didn’t know about DNA tests before but mum explained it's when they do a swab in your mouth and it tells if you're the dad," he was quoted as saying before undergoing the test.

"So if I have it, they can all shut up."

"It had not even crossed Alfie’s mind whether Chantelle had not been faithful to him," his mother Nicole said.

"He’s absolutely devastated that these lads say they slept with her."

Since the birth, Alfie has been a doting father who can’t bear to be separated from his daughter, welfare workers say.

Matters were complicated when Tyler Barker, 14, and Richard Goodsell, 16, came forward with claims they had also slept with Chantelle and could have fathered the baby.

Since then, four more boys claiming they had slept with Chantelle have also come forward.

And a family friend has previously alleged Alfie was a victim of a scam devised by his girlfriend's mother to cash in on publicity surrounding the young parents.

Teen mum Chantelle Steadman's mother told her 15-year-old daughter to say Alfie Patten was the father of Maisie Roxanne, according to Clive Sim.

He claims Penny Steadman had told her daughter Chantelle to keep quiet about other boys she had slept with because "she knew Alfie being the dad makes a better story".

"I think there's a big scam going on here" he was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying.

Both Chantelle's and Alfie's parents are thought to have already earned thousands of dollars in media deals since The Sun broke the story.

statistics have shown that girls are becoming viable for pregnancy at younger and younger ages...and kids are having sex at younger ages (think about the kids that got caught having sex in front of their class whole their teacher stepped out...they were 5th graders)...

put 2 and 2 together and you get babies at significantly younger ages

Truely sad. A 13 year old might be able to father a kid, but he sure isn't old enough to be a dad to the kid. Shoot, if he were in the US he couldn't even get a job so he could pay child support for another 2-3 years.
