Juror Karen Cornelius saw Stacey Castor shut her eyes at the very moment she was found guilty Thursday of murdering her husband and trying to murder her daughter.
A small sign, but one Cornelius and other jurors later concluded was the most emotion they had seen - or would ever see - from Castor given her blank demeanor throughout four weeks of trial.
That apparent coldness contributed to a credibility gap for jurors.

"I, for one, did not believe she was believable," Janet Fureno said. Fureno said as a mother herself, she was bothered by Castor's aloofness in describing the deaths of her two husbands and the near death of her daughter to a drug and alcohol overdose.
"She didn't seem all that upset," Fureno said as several of her jury colleagues - also parents - nodded in agreement.
"It affected me a lot," Patti Lenweaver-Salce said, noting she couldn't imagine going through such an ordeal and having no emotion.
But while the jurors may have been left cold by Castor's demeanor, they said they based their verdict strictly on a thorough analysis of the evidence presented by both the prosecution and
defense.
After sitting through three weeks of testimony, nine of the jurors in Castor's trial - and one of the four alternate jurors - discussed their assessment of the evidence and what it was like being on a high-profile murder case.
The jury of 10 women and two men found Castor guilty of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing. The panel sent out a note indicating it had reached its verdict less than an hour after resuming deliberations at 9 a.m.
