As in the number of playoff games he'll win here?

I think he should demand #4 from Thigpen, just to be a prick.

Tyler should be forced to wear #1, to signify the only win he'll ever get as a starting QB in the NFL.

That number needs a lot of work here in KC, but perhaps it would rinse the bad taste of Lin Elliot from all of our mouths. It'd be GREAT to be able to remember that number as a GOOD number. Colquitt is doing it justice, but it will take a great QB to not see the number and have memories.

I like 8. Not because of Aikman or Young (though Young was cool, IMO), but because its my lucky number, and its symmetrical both vertically and horizontally.

In all honesty, the 1st line is a joke. I think he's capable of winning a playoff game for us at some point, though I have no faith that he can put a team on his back in the biggest of all games and win.

The other two lines stand as posted.

It's not hard headed at all.

Unlike the people that go to games to be seen and have a good time, I go to see the team WIN.

Winning is the goal.

Close is for hand grenades.

I could give two shits about the kid's stat sheet, bottom line, the team didn't win.

If you watch football to feel good about coming close but losing, good for you.

Respect is earned, and you don't earn respect by playing your worst in the most important parts of the game.

You fucking idiot. There you go turning it into something it's not, AGAIN.

It's not about being right, it's my OPINION.

I've said it several times now - if you're the type that's content with losers, that's your right.

Perfection wasn't necessary to get more than 1 win.

Some consistency would have done the trick.

Amazing that people will go to any length to defend a guy that won 10% of his games, and who got progressively worse as the game went on. Over a 40 point drop in passer rating between the 1st and 4th quarter.

If that's not shitting the bed in crucial situations, I'm not sure what is.

But please, feel free to praise him. I'm not stopping you, just disagreeing.

I honestly never thought this team had a very good chance to win last season, regardless of who was at QB.

Herm was still the coach, and the roster was, generally speaking, depleted of talent.

I watch because this is my team. Always has been. Always will be.

That said, I expect results. That's why I wanted Herm shit canned and the roster carpet bombed.

Thigpen = Derek Anderson IMO.

He's a starter. He should be a starter, but he's no franchise QB. If you think KC needs a franchise QB to be a contender, then you'll be disappointed. But if you're one of those people who feels a QBs most important job is to keep you in the game and let your supporting cast (RB and Defense) win the game for you (MARTYBALL), He's great.

And maybe, just maybe he'll turn into some sort of Rich Gannon-esque player who ends up getting GREAT later in his career. I kinda hope so, cause I think he's a cool guy.

Something bold, that states, "I am here, and I am ready to conquer your womens." Something like #69, or maybe #33 if he does 'em in the butts. I would like to see him do something original honestly, a QB wearing number 54 would be kind of cool, or maybe 97/99, something like that.

Those are all against NFL rules - it has to be 1-19.

But that's what would make it so bold!!! Can we not just list him as a LBer on paper, who happens to be terrible at LB, but great at QB? Then he can wear an awesome number!

How about 12? Then he can look like Tom Brady.

My thoughts were made pretty clear in posts 81/82.

Keep in mind you're talking to a guy that drove 4 hours in each direction and spent $2K a year on season tickets from 2004-2007.

And made that same drive last year to sit in near-zero temps to watch Thigpen's fucking teeth chatter when it mattered most against Miami.

More on the lines of the flavor of the offseason... Mitchell was all that anyone talked about in 1993/1994 (i think)...

I would love to see Cassel pan out and be a prowbowl QB next year and beyond... But as a fan of the NFL, I dont get excited about 7th round draft picks leading their second team to championships...

I think he is a good choice for the next 2-3 years while we are developing a 1st round QBoTF on the bench... Have him ready just in time for this team to move over the hump and go on a 5 year run at a championship...

One of them was drafted by the same GM that brought him to his new team.

The other wasn't.

If you want to compare Cassel to somebody compare him to Matt Hasslebeck. At least that comparison is valid enough to not be laughable.
exactly. Seems the only valid comparison with Coaches/QBs. (in modern football time)

But he will always be SM v2.0 to me.... IF some dont like it, sorry, its my opinion not yours...

I'm just glad you've found your new Herm. I'd hate to see you leave your comfort level.

I've got bad news for you.

If Cassel is only here 2-3 years, it means we're no closer to a championship run than we are now.

Pioli is going to sink or swim with Cassel. If we go on a "run" it will be with Cassel. If Cassel flames out, we're getting a new GM and HC to go with our new QB.

I'm happy as hell he's here! It keeps that fucking abortion Pig Pick off of my football field, and on the sidelines where his sub-mediocre ass belongs!

I look forward to seeing if Cassel can play on this team, and do it exceptionally well.
If he can, he'll have a nice 4 to 5 year run. If he's not as good as we're supposed to believe he is, we'd better acquire and be developing an elite talent in the number 2 roster spot.

And by elite, I do NOT mean some bush-whacking scrub like Graham Harrell!

You really think Pioli is gonna' pull a Carl, and just ride the mediocre train indefinitely with Cassel come hell or high water?!

You've got some outstanding takes, but this ain't one of 'em.

Fair Enough.... I was looking down the road and I hope that they were also. I guess we will see, I know one thing, this is the most excited I have been in 3 years for football.. I cant wait to see the product on the field and see the development of the players and team..

IF Cassel is the man, Great, I am fine with it. IF not, then your right, they will sink with him.

He is still SM v2.0. :thumb:

I'm not suggesting that at all. I'm suggesting that Clark isn't Lamar and I wouldn't expect Pioli to get 20 years like Carl did.

We're either going to win with Cassel, or we're going to get a new regime.

I wouldn't bet on it. I would say if Cassel flames Pioli gets a new HC, and QB. JMO.

If Pioli and Haley don't win it all, or at least get VERY close, in the next 5 years, they'll both be gone. The odds against it are very, very high. What happened with Carl Peterson is beyond rare - it's a 1 in 10,000 occurence in this day and age.

It's the nature of professional sports today. Win or be gone.

I'm sure that's their plan. But it's not the way it works.

Do you think BB and Pioli would have still been in New England if Tom Brady hadn't broke out in 2001? Ask Pete Carroll about that.

Cassel is the QB for the next 3-4 years at least. They'll draft 2 or 3 late round projects during that time. And if Cassel fails, the next regime will get to decide what to do with them.

The ONLY way it doesn't happen with Cassel is if we draft somebody this year or next, Cassel gets hurt, and that draftee lights it up right away - aka the Brady scenario.

If the Patriots hadn't won any super bowls over the past decade, then sure, maybe Belichick and Pioli wouldn't still be there. That doesn't mean anything to the Chiefs situation.

The idea that Pioli would be fired because a QB he traded a second round pick didn't work out is pretty silly, IMO, as is the idea that they've married themselves to Cassel regardless of how he plays.

He's married to Cassel solely because of time. I'm not suggesting Pioli would be fired solely because Cassel failed. I'm saying that, short of Cassel going down with an injury in the next 18 months and somebody else emerging (ala Brady in New England) they will be here over the same period of time.

If Cassel flames out, probability says Pioli simply won't have enough time to try it with someone else. Now if Clark turns out to be more like his dad in that respect, then that changes the argument a bit. Pioli will probably get another chance to try it with someone else, but then Haley probably won't.

He probably won't even play OLB, which makes it all the more important that he be special right away.

If Clark is a chip off of the Lamar block, it's not out of the question.

We just need to realize that what we just got done with is so far from the norm that we should probably not expect to happen in the NFL again in our lifetime.

Same age, basically the same philosophy. They are going to agree on a lot of things, and I believe Clark will feel as though he has shared in any failures that might come Pioli's way. If Cassel doesn't work out, they will try again, I'm almost certain of it.

Yes he is

Mitchell never had a completion % over 60. Cassel's completion % was 63.4 in his first year starting. I don't think they'll be going down the same path.
