Green Lantern Movie Confirms Director, Will Start Shooting in September
But who’s going to play Hal Jordan, aka the Green Lantern? That’s the question on everyone’s mind as Dark Horizons confirms that the superhero film will head into production in Australia this September with a scheduled release date of December 17, 2010. Additionally, producer Donald Deline tells us that Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) will direct the flick, which means the action scenes will probably look fantastic.
Yet, all that means nothing if the lead role isn’t handed to someone the fans will accept. While, in the comics, Hal Jordan doesn’t become the Green Lantern until he’s a bit older, word is the script has him at 27 – most likely to make sure a young, familiar face is cast; someone who can potentially carry a franchise. Folks like Anton Yelchin and Ryan Reynolds are already being tossed around, and IESB reports that Chris Pine (Captain Kirk in the new Star Trek movie) is also on the studio’s short list for the role.
