1. Monday Night Football is not "Marquee" anymore

2. MNF, opens the season now with a double bill. One East coast game and one west coast game. There are only so many West coast teams.

Weird... if I recall, Denver and Oakland were the 2nd MNF game in W1 last year.

Bears/Packers - both sucked last year. I like the Bears, but frankly they don't rate a prime time game. And obviously the fucking Raiders don't even rate a televised game.

I thought the Sunday Night Game was supposed to be a showcase of talent, not just a jerkoff of major population centers. Silly me, what I was thinking believing those turds? :shake:

Well, there are only 4 teams who could fill a 9:15 central start time:

Bolts
Raiders
Seahawks
49ers

Technically, the Thursday Night game (Season Opener) will be the "Marquee" game that week. The Sunday Night game for that week will be a lesser game. Probably why they went with the Bears/Packers.

I think Peter King mentioned the Thursday Night opener will be the Steelers/Titans.

You'd think they would pick the team who lost to the Chargers by 1 point TWICE last year. I hope we have a primetime game this season; it really pissed me off that we didn't last season, but it seems that the NFL really knew that Herm was a bad coach...

Perhaps we can ride the Pioli Express to at least one nationally televised game, but frankly, we don't rate one any more than Oakland does.

The Raiders always get this game, I wonder why?

Maybe the NFL wants to get their primetime game out of the way early in the season so they don't have to worry about a potential crappy matchup in the later weeks.

It doesn't surprise me that the Raiders are on MNF the first week. Advertising dollars are down, but the tattoo and link-chain retailers jumped in with their dollars and got their way.

Per the NFL TV contract every team gets a "only on" national game. That includes Thursday Night/Saturday/Sunday Night/Monday Night/Thanksgiving...etc. The Chiefs will have at least one game fall into one of those time slots. This is the reason you have MNF games with the Texans vs. the Lions. Kill two birds with one stone.

They have at least 2 this year as well...

They play Dallas on Thanksgiving...

Other than that, The pure fact the NFL set up these Games with the Anni. of the AFL in mind, and did not include the Chiefs is nauseating at best...

Good grief people. Its a 9:15 start game - its going to be one of the California teams or Seattle hosting it. The 49ers and Seahawks blow ass as well. They want an all AFL matchup - Chargers/Raiders is perfect for the timeslot. I just dont get all the bitching and moaning just think about it logical for a second.

I understand wanting to have the teams that draw the most on MNF, but not having a game in 4 years is ridiculous. I bet we get one this year though with Cassel/Pioli in town

The Cowboys want to slaughter one of the shittiest teams in the league while we all eat turkey and laugh? I mean, I hate Dallas, but if they play the Raiders, I'll root for them.

Dallas always hosts the Thanksgiving day game.

Since it is on CBS this year (Fox and CBS switch between Detroit and Dallas every year), they had to choose an AFC team playing @ Dallas for the game.

The only 2 AFC Teams Dallas plays at home this year are the Raiders and Chargers.

Obviously, Jerry Jones pulled some strings to make sure that he got an easy win on Thanksgiving.

And, the Raiders play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Explain that.

The Cowboys/Lions alternate between CBS & FOX on Thanksgiving day. Its the Cowboys turn to be on CBS so they have to host an AFC opponent, so it had to be either San Diego or Oakland.

I still have to ask if there's a rule that each team get a national game, then why did the Chiefs not have one last year? It begs the question as to how the Raiders, who have stunk over the last half dozen years (historically bad), can get national games?

Alot of Chiefs fans dont like to hear this but The Raiders have one of the NFL's largest national followings. Its simple ratings + dollars and sense. The NFL is a business.

The reason the Raiders-Cowboys game was put on Thanksgiving instead of the Chargers-Cowboys game is simple....national exposure. The SD-DAL game is going to get ratings and national exposure no matter WHEN it's played. Why waste a permanent nationally exposed game on a game that'll get big time coverage no matter when it's played? The Raiders suck so much ass, there's no way in hell the OAK-DAL game would get national coverage on any time BUT Thanksgiving.

Plus, I suppose the Raiders and Cowboys having two of the biggest fanbases would have something to do with it also.....

As for the Chiefs, I think they'll slip into a Sunday or Monday night game this season with the headline grabs of Cassel and Pioli this offseason. As soon as the schedule comes out, I'm always sifting through to see the primetime games we have right after I see who's up in Week 1. Personally, I want Sunday Night more than Monday Night. Outside of Jaws, I fucking can't stand the Monday Night booth.

Oh, and I was at the last night game the Chiefs had when they played the Chargers in San Diego back in 2006. Also, we did have a Sunday Night game scheduled in New York against the Jets in Week 17 in '07 before the NFL flexed it after discovering both teams sucked ass.
