10. Randy Moss for a 4th round pick
By the time the draft rolled around, it was obvious that the marriage between Randy Moss and the Oakland Raiders had turned sour. Moss played his hand to get sent to the Patriots, in that he would only restructure his contract for them. This gave the Raiders no leverage. The Raiders got John Bowie with that pick, and he has not been able to get off the injured reserve list.
9. Leon Bender 1998 first round compensatory
This one is is a tragedy as Bender had a seizure and died shortly after the Raiders drafted him, and before he could even report to training camp.
8. Matt Stinchcomb 1998 1st round
Stinchcomb could not find a home anywhere along the Raiders offensive line. He was tried at nearly every position; that is, when he was not on the injured list.
7. La'Roi Glover 1995 5th round
Glover is unique on this list because the mistake was not in selecting him, but in letting him go after one season. Since he left the Raiders, he has been a force at the defensive tackle position with six Pro Bowl selections, and is a four-time All-Pro. Had the Raiders kept him, he would have been a fifth-round steal. However, letting him get away was a huge mistake.
6. Marc Wilson 1980 1st round
Unlike most of the players on this list, Wilson found a way to stick around in Silver and Black for several years. Far too many years for the tastes of most Raider fans. He would have moments where he would look good, but far more frequently he would be wildly inaccurate.
5. Teyo Johnson 2003 2nd round
The Raiders drafted the big wide receiver out of Stanford to turn him into a tight end. The experiment failed. In his two years in Silver and Black he managed only 26 catches for 288 yards. He was out of the NFL by 2005.
4. Quentin Moses 2007 3rd round pick
When Moses was first selected, it appeared that the Raiders had gotten a steal. At one time he had been considered a potential first-round pick. The Raiders learned fast why his stock dropped so fast, as he was unable to make the team out of training camp his rookie year.
3. Phillip Buchanon & Napoleon Harris 2002 1st round
The Raiders thought they were getting a playmaking corner and middle linebacker. They got neither. Both of them were traded on draft day three years later.
2. Seventh overall pick and Napoleon Harris for Randy Moss
The Raiders felt that bringing in Randy Moss could turn the franchise around. It looked that way for the first couple of games, but then Moss started playing when he felt like it. Within two years, Moss would become mistake number 10 on this list, as well. If it is any consolation to the Raider Nation, this deal did absolutely nothing to help the Vikings either.
1. Todd Marinovich first round 1991
Marinovich had one good game in the NFL, and then became a national punchline. He not only failed to live up to his hype, he was out of the league after his second season. He went on to be arrested multiple times for drug offenses, earning him the nickname Marijuanavich.
