how about a good old offseason plan. Over the course of the last few years, the threads started have largely become either just news or bickering with very little freedom for someone to post complete wish lists for offseason needs.

In a call back to the 2002 timeframe, here's my list of guys we should bring in for a look. First, I agree that we would like to build thru the draft, but as Pioli showed in NE, he isn't afraid to add free agents when he wants to and older guys that are willing to accept cheaper salaries might be willing to sign a 1 or 2 year deal. I realize not one of these will actually happen, but I'm bored, so here you go.

Offense
Plaxico Burress, WR UFA would fit in nicely with Haley's offense, he and LJ can hang out. Say what you want, but it would definitely help Bowe get open.
If not...
Torry Holt, WR UFA. Hold your breath on all that "his knees are shot" crap. I'm not seeing anything recent that says his knee is any more of an issue than any other 10 year vets. Playing on grass could help extend his career, at least thats what they used to say. Bring him in for a look and a physical. Could teach every wide receiver a thing or two.

George Foster, RT UFA, not saying he'd be a starter, but the guy was pretty good for a few years and will be 29 when the season starts. The word on him is that he can fill in as a starter for a couple of games but can't stay motivated or concentrate for extended periods. He wouldn't be the first player to come around later in his career and gain a work ethic or focus that he lacked early on.

Defense Trying to find guys with some 3-4 experience, obviously the secondary isn't much of a concern, but guys who can compete or help teach the younger guys are needed and nothing says they'll make the opening day roster.
Vonnie Holiday, DE, a 3-4 end guy with experience in the scheme in Miami. That he didn't do much the first time he was here means nothing to me given who he played for.

Kevin Carter, DE, another 3-4 end though probably not much left in the tank, which brings me to...

Tank Johnson, NT/DE, backed up at NT in Dallas behind Jay Ratliff. Yeah he had issues when he was younger, but bring him in for a look because we need a NT.

Jason Taylor, OLB, I know everything has him heading to NE, but it hasn't happened yet and he was released a month ago. Definitely knows how to rush the passer in a 3-4 OLB. Wasn't good in DC playing a new position and I can't find any other OLB of note to put here.

Antwan Peek, OLB, league minimum deal, bring him in for a look. He was released by Cleveland and they desperately need a pass rush. Injuries have really hurt the guy as he was a big pass rusher in college who's had multiple knee surgeries.

Marques Harris, OLB, remembered for his backflip after sacking Damon Huard in 2006 at Arrowhead. Was drafted by SD in 2005 and basically a special teamer with the exception being that he is a pass rush specialist.

Thats all I've got. Not much out there to pick from unless they have age, injury or off-field issues.

Fire away!

This thread is so poorly construed that one would think that it was created by some random Chinese sweatshop worker.

Marques Harris is the guy I would want. I think he would offer good depth and I know he was solid in limited playing time with San Diego.
