He didn't really say that about Favre. At least not in public, you know he said it to himself.

Thank God, no more of his incoherent ramblings.

Said Madden "when you retire, you don't go to work anymore, unless you just decide to keep going to work, and then you aren't retired."

asked if he planned to stage a comeback a la Farve and Jordan, Madden said "I worship the ground they walk on, so never say never, unless you really mean it then say never."

Favre: Hello

Madden: Hey Brett, it's me!!

Favre: John, is that you??

Madden: YES!! I just wanted to call and tell you that I am retiring and that I love you!

Favre: John, you know what I have to do now, right? You know the rules.

Madden: But true love has no boundries.

Favre: It does when it says to never call me and to stay a 1/2 mile away from me and my family at all times.

Madden: Ok, ok, call the cops, but remember this. I think you could play in your Wranglers on Sundays. That is how good you really are....champ!

[Phone hangs up]

Madden: Brett.....Brett? I LOVE YOU!!!!

In honesty, I would rather him do MNF rather than the soap opera they have now. Thank god Jaws came on or it would require mute.

Damn...I remember him from when he coached, not just from his announcing....

I know in his later years his spiel had become harder to listen to, but for better or worse, he was one of the NFL's iconic figures...

Man, these years just keep on rollin' by....

That's a shame. He's actually gotten a lot better in recent years and is one of the better NFL broadcasters out there.

Thanks for the memories John. Love him or hate him, he was one of NFL broadcasters biggest names.

Im curious how much money hes made just off the Madden video game franchise over the years?

I will never forget the Broncos and Dolphins were playing on MNF and Brian Greise was out because he sprained his foot by tripping over his dog down the stairs or something like that.

Madden went on for about a quarter and 1/2 talking about how Golden Retrievers are the greatest dogs on earth and how no other dog likes to have more fun than a Golden Retriever.

No way he could get out of covering the Pro Bowl this year with it being in Miami. He'd rather retire.

I wonder if the Kalas having the big enchilada in the booth had anything to do with the timeing of this. "Well, Josh McDaniels seems absolutely lost as a head coach. What do you think?" "John, John?"

Not sure about the video game revenue, but I went to a convention where he was paid $90,000 for a 1 hour speech. He just endorsed the money over to his charity. He really is a good guy.

Since he was a Raider, I gave the autographed football to one of our employees.

See, the fact is that John Madden is really good guy. When I say that, I mean two separate things. Brett Favre. Professionally, he is a really good guy, and personally, he is a really good guy. Now, professionally, he is really good at what he does. Personally, he is a very humble and kind person. Brett Favre. Now, it is sad to see him retire, because he will not be working anymore. Brett Favre. That is the thing about retiring, because you no longer work when you retire. Turducken. However, he could always unretire. Brett Favre. If he unretired, then he could start working again. Because, if you unretire then you are no longer retired. Brett Favre. Turducken. Speaking of which, he is famous for the Turducken. You see, it is a duck stuffed in a turkey or a turkey stuffed in a duck, depending on your preferences. You see that is the thing because different people have different preferences. Brett Favre. Now, you see that John Madden is a swell guy and will be missed because he is retiring. Brett Favre. If someone retires then they are not working anymore. Brett Favre. Now, if he unretired then...

Now you know its a big game because Daryl Green is returning kicks. Normally he doesn't but when its a really big game, Joe Gibbs will have him return kicks. He's back there returning kicks today. And when I see that, I say to myself this is a big game

Also...... I think the Patriots will play for overtime here. If they had better field position I wouldn't say that but here I think they will just play for overtime.
I don't agree with what the Patriots are doing here. If they had better field position I would but I think this is a mistake
Well they are still 40 yards from Adam Vinatieris range
Well now I kind of like what the Patriots are doing
This...this is unbelievable what the Patriots are doing
What Tom Brady just did gives me goosebumps.

But I really hated that useless bastard as a broadcaster.

His schtick sucked from the very start.

I admire Chris Collingsworth for overcoming his homosexuality and having a pretty decent NFL career and afterwards a successful career in the booth. Not easy for a practicing homosexual. Thank goodness Jim Nantz blazed a trail in the broadcasting industry for openly Gay practicing homosexuals to succeed. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

When I was coaching the Raiders way back when I was coaching I would say to our quarterback Ken Stabler before a game I would say "Ken, I want you to just have fun. Football should be as fun as fuckin Fred Biletnikoff in the back of a Pontiac". Fred had one of those old Pontiacs and we would fuck and fuck and........are we on the air???

That play that Brett Favre just made makes feel like a woman. I'm not one of those handsome guys so I like to picture Brett Favre dressing me up as his mom and we would go to the church social. Nothing is more american than a guy takin his mom to a church social. And when I think of that I say to myself I would put on a dress and a wig to be that mom. And then he would hogtie me. And then------
John! We have to go to commercial!
