Read in the paper today that on this day in 1984 Saberhagen made his first start. Snapped the Tigers 9 game winning streak to start the season.

That Tiger team started 35-5 or some ridiculous number like that. Swept us in the ALCS and then pounded the Padres in 5. Padres had one of my favorite Royals players of all time on that team. "Dirty" Kurt Bevaqua. He hit two homers in that series.

Although Dayton Moore may have made a few mistakes recently that people like to point to, I still cant believe we got Kyle Davies for 2 months of Octavio Dotel. It's moves (or outright thefts) like that which could give us a chance this year.

The Braves wanted him for their push to try to win the NL East division, the injury-prone Dotel got hurt again less than 2 weeks after the trade, the Braves missed the playoffs by 5 games, and Kyle Davies broke out for us the very next year. The Braves are probably still kicking themselves for that one.

PHILADELPHIA - The Braves placed reliever Octavio Dotel on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder Friday, only a week and a half after acquiring him in a trade from the Kansas City Royals.

Beautiful.

The Royals pitching has been ridiculous...

They have easily the lowest ERA in the MLB.

he does, and i might start getting a little cocky. i already feel the game is over when i see the bullpen come in. well except for farnsworthless. kinda pisses me off, he's the number 40, and thats the number on the replica jersey they're giving away saturday.

I still don't think we know enough about Davies to think he's going to be our legit starter, but everyone is right. Either way, even just based on what Davies has given this club SO FAR, we raped the Braves in that trade.

Yeah, my buddy that's in charge of all the promotions for the Royals said that was a mess. He actually didn't even realize until opening day that Farnsworth was wearing #40. We were sitting there talking at the K and Farnsworth was warming up, and all of a sudden, he was like, "FUCK! Why the fuck does Farnsworth have to be number 40?"

The whole reason they did that jersey was because of the 40 year anniversary thing, and he is worried that everyone will think they are giving away Farnsworth jerseys.ROFL

We were sitting there talking at the K and Farnsworth was warming up, and all of a sudden, he was like, "****! Why the **** does Farnsworth have to be number 40?"

The whole reason they did that jersey was because of the 40 year anniversary thing, and he is worried that everyone will think they are giving away Farnsworth jerseys.ROFL

i can see this conversation taking place:

PR guy: "kyle, have a seat. we're giving away 40th anniversary replica jerseys that are going to have the number 40 on the back."

KFless: "thats great, now everyone is gonna have my jersey."

PRguy: "look, we're gonna have to ask you to change your number."

KFless: "why do i need to change my number?"

PR guy: "yeeeah, its just you've blown a couple of leads, and with your history in NY, the fans, well kyle, they just don't like you. we're afraid it will effect the promotion.... in a negative way."

KFless: "what? thats impossible, i throw a 95 mph fastball."

PR guy: "well, kyle, you throw it right down the middle dumbass. go punch a wall or something."

It's scheduled to be on but gets interrupted for Arkansas bitches softball. Why the fuck does anyone care about chickes tossing an oversized fucking ball.

At this point, even if Davies settles down and starts putting up zeroes, and we come back to take the lead, it would be a struggle for Davies to make 5 innings to qualify. He threw almost 40 pitches in that inning.

Okay, Davies has kept the damage to a minimum. Let's get to Padilla in this inning again.

And Kinsler's shot was indeed prodigious.

Padilla hasnt completely impressed me, we should be able to get to him.
