View Full Version : Food and Drink Cereal Obsession Anyone

Recently, the Mrs. and I have had an unhealthy obsession with cereals from our childhood.

It started when I was on a diet and bought a box of corn flakes (Heart Healthy and all that shit).

This has mutated into an obsession for cereals from our glory days of watching Scooby-Doo on Saturady mornings and eating lucky charms.

I bought a box of Capt. Crunch a few weeks ago. Godammit, that's some good stuff if you dont mind lacerated uvulas.
Last week I went to the local grocer and purchased some Trix, Fruit Loops and Fruity Pebbles for taste comparison.

Fruit Loops were as I expected, different colors and all but they all taste the same. Fruity pebbles are decent but I have to say Trix FTW.

See the attached poll:

When I'm stoned I go to Walmart and buy a huge Malt-o-Meal bag of Golden Sugar Puffs, the offbrand of Kellogg's Smacks.

Go home and eat about 5-6 bowls of it.

I don't think most cereal is as bad as most people say. Sure it's not good, but it has alot of whole grain wheat and some even has oats in it. If you cut out the sugar, it can't be that bad can it?

When I'm drunk I go to Wal-Mart and get a live lobster at 3 AM and then throw it in a boiling pot and devour it's dead carcass. Delicious. They scream though. Not sure if they are supposed to do that. It's like a really loud screech.

None of the above. I like the banana nut crunch varieties. Corn pops are the bomb. I have found that I can never get the milk to cereal ratio down. I always have milk left, so I add more cereal, then I have cereal left so I add more milk, it usually doesn't end until I've eaten half a box cereal and half a gallon of milk.

I also enjoy the milk afterward. I think cereal flavored milk would be a big hit.

The best cereal ever was S'More Grahams, the smore flavored Golden Graham cereal. I think they discontinued it, but damn that was good shit.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Reeses Puffs cereal are a close 2nd and 3rd.

Honestly, if you look at the nutrition panel these days you'll find the "sugar" cereals have the same calorie content per serving as the "healthy" cereals.

I just bought Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries last Saturday. I buy it once every three or four years, but I had a hankerin' for it.

Interesting trivia. Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries has fewer calories than regular Cap'n Crunch. http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-breakfast-cereals-ic0800 It's like the Crunchberries are some sort of miracle diet food. I bet if you picked off the Crunchberries and ate them, you'd ingest negative calories and lose weight like crazy.

Fruity Pebbles were my favorite as a kid, but I'm afraid to try them now lest it ruin some great breakfast memories. My current favorite is Apple Cinnamon Cheerios if I base my vote off actual purchases. I really love Cracklin' Oat Bran, but that stuff is like eating doughnuts - it's nutritionally a kick in the groin.

Tony "The Tiger" Frosted Flakes are a real weakness I have. Right up there with OREO's and a glass of milk. Held in the milk until right before the OREO breaks apart.

MMMMMMMMMMMM.

Fiber One Caramel Delight with sliced banana.

I alternate between the above cereal and Cinnamon and Splenda oatmeal.

When I was younger I'd eat Wheaties and stare at the sports figures on the box. I don't like Wheaties now.

Sometimes like once a year that crazy Captain Crunch fucks up the machine and they make "OOPS" boxes that are just Crunchberries.

But your way of picking out the crunchberries has way more cardio involved.

That's a good point on the cardio. Now I'm kind of afraid to pick them out, because between the exercise and the negative calories I could starve to death on my first box.

I like on the commercials for breakfest cereal they always put fruit juice and some toast. That way they can put whatever the f they want as the main course. 1 cup of bacon baconanator cereral and some toast and juice and fruit it becomes balanced breakfest

Of the ones listed I had to vote for Cocoa Puffs. Frosted Mini Wheats are one of my favs though. Grape Nuts are good too, as long as you put milk and sugar on them, and then pop the bowl in the microwave for about 15 -20 seconds. Yummy!

Not so good.

Yup. That was one of my favorites too.

Also Cap'n Crunch, Sugar Pops, Apple Jacks.

Quisp was a rip off of Cap'n Crunch but they sucked.

Now it's mostly Wheaties, Corn Flakes, and Chex for me. The sweet stuff doesn't do it anymore for me.
