I have a friend (no, it's not me) who has an AUX input on his car stereo. He has an iPod and a sat radio, both of which he can plug into the AUX using a male-to-male 3.5mm cable. He'd like to be able to switch between the two without having to unlpug anything.

He was asking about a Y-cable that had male jacks on all three ends, but I told him that probably wasn't a good idea given the potential for mixing the output of the audio sources. ie, don't cross the streams

So I was thinking, is there a 3.5 mm cable out there that has a male on one end (that he can plug into the AUX), a switch, and two males on the other end? That way he could keep everything plugged in, and then flip the switch to go between the two audio sources. I've done a google search, but can't find much. Does such a thing even exist?

I would think that the only way that the Y cable would cause a problem is if you have both of them on.

That's true, but if you had them both on at once the potential is there for hardware damage. You wouldn't want to use a y

Awesome! That plus three male-to-male (NTTAWWT) cables should be exactly what he needs. Thanks!
