Hmmm... as I mentioned in that other post, it's going to be tight for WAS to pull of a trade... maybe their R1, R3 in 2009 and a 2010 R1 will get it done.

So, KC goes from #3 to #13 with an extra R3 this year and a R1 next.

My hypothesis is pretty freakin' obvious.

If Boldin goes for a pick lower than the 34th we gave up for Cassel (which we could have used for Boldin), the Chiefs as a franchise will be worse off for it, provided they are unable to get out of the #3 slot in the draft. In that event we will be stuck taking a player that should not be taken with the #3 pick, thus greatly underutilizing it, instead of taking Sanchez.

In other words: Is Cassel + Curry/Smith/Crabtree > Sanchez + Boldin?

How do you figure?

If the Cassel trade leads directly to us being unable to get Boldin, how are the two unrelated?

You're correct in that if Cassel turns out to be awful the trade is a failure and if he turns out to be great the trade is a success. But if Cassel turns out to be merely average, and Boldin could've been had instead, that absolutely makes a difference in how that trade is viewed.

Bouldin can be had anyway, if Pioli want to pay the price. The real question would be if Cassel is average and Sanchez is a superstar. This question has been debated at length for months now.

Dear People,

The important nugget of information that many of you seem to be missing is the fact that it was Arizona who lowered their demands. That means they have not been able to get much action on Bolden.

That said I think we do have some what of an advantage here since we pick or trade at number three. That means by the 3rd pick we will know if we have the ammo to make that deal while I think other teams will want and see what falls to them in round one.

I like our chances. Also remember the other considerations could mean a player and a pick or a pick and a conditional pick.

why does everyone on the planet like to watch a losing rebuilding for nothing team?

The Ravens reportedly offered a 1st and a player, most likely Todd Heap. The Cardinals turned it down. Why would they then lower their offer?
This is obviously bullshit.

Trade down from #3... get a mid pick in R1, another R2, etc... and you can parlay a deal into Boldin.

Hey, save a WR for my boys... :D

I really did my research on both Anquan Boldin and Braylon Edwards by comparing they're strengths and weaknesses side-by-side. I keep going back and forth on who would be a far more accomplished and better fit if the Giants have their choice and are willing to make a trade in the draft. No doubt Edwards, who is 26, 6'3" 218 lbs can make big plays by stretching the field. He's an excellent route runner -- question is, can he hold onto the ball? In his defense, he had 42 dozen different QBs to play for in 2008. I kind-of-know who would be the better fit -- but they're both tremendous WRs.

Boldin is 29, 6"1" is a strong and powerful short passer WR -- Edwards is an explosive and powerful jump ball catcher down the field WR -- Very few of his catches were for 10 yds or less. I have all down, if that should interest you.

Boldin on possible trade: ‘I want to get it resolved’
Posted: Around The Web | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Anquan Boldin, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, New York Jets

One day after the Arizona Cardinals said they would listen to trade offers for Anquan Boldin, the Pro Bowl wide receiver appeared on The Michael Irvin Show on ESPN Radio in Dallas and talked about his future. This according to The Dallas Morning News:

Boldin said he’s open to getting traded to any team, especially to the NFC East, where the Eagles and Giants need an elite receiver.
Boldin, who said he just has a player-coach relationship with former Cardinals (offensive) coordinator Todd Haley, said he wouldn’t mind playing for him in Kansas City.
As for getting traded, Boldin said: “I just want to get it resolved. It’s been going on way too long.” Later, he said: “It would hurt, but at the same time, change is necessary. My only problem has been management, always has been.”
Giants general manager Jerry Reese told reporters that “we won’t force anything” in a possible trade for Boldin. The New York Daily News reports that the city’s other team, the Jets, have called the Cardinals about Boldin.

The Baltimore Sun, citing a league source, also reports that the Ravens have expressed interest in Boldin. The Sun asked Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome if the team had contacted the Cardinals about Boldin. His response: “With the draft coming up, I’ve had a chance to talk to eight different teams over the past 48 hours.”

It does seem like a pretty sweet deal. 550 points is a high R2 though. Maybe ship em LJ too. why not.

Not again. We aren't trading LJ people. Cope with it.:cuss:

No. We were not winning with Thigpen. I believe we could, but he's gonna have to beat Cassel for that. And you think bringing in Cassel means we want to lose, that we are rebuilding for nothing? Please elaborate.

Damn you're a ****wit.

It was couched as a hypothetical, so yes, that's exactly what I was saying.

See, a hypothetical situation is when you ponder what might have happened had previous events NOT transpired. So when you're pondering a hypothetical, you're pretending the event did not happen in order to determine if the event SHOULD have happened.

Have I broken that one down far enough for you yet?

When pondering a hypothetical situation, you are imagining the circumstances, not pretending one didn't exist. Because a hypothetical situation never occured, there would be no need for any association with any precurring events.:D

FWIW: While listening to the radio today, I heard some national "guru" say that Boldin is a 29 year old malcontent that wants a big payday and recently had reconstructive knee surgery. He added, "No way I trade away a first day pick for him."

I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but I haven't heard much about his prior knee surgery(ies). Anyone think his health could be an issue?

I'd be surprised if Pioli doesn't, at least, make an offer....worse the Cards can do is say "no."

Send him a player who doesn't fit our plans, along with the 2nd rounder we just got for Gonzalez, and maybe a late rounder....and I'd think Boldin could be wearing the Red and Gold next year.

Reconstructive knee surgery?

He tore a meniscus he didn't blow out his knee.

Thank you. Good to know.

His stat line says that he's missed 16 games during his NFL career of 6 seasons. That's substantial. So nobody is worried about his durability? No? Good! I guess Haley would know.

I'm like most of the posters here in that I'm trusting Haley & Pioli until they prove themselves unworthy of that trust. Hopefully, that never happens.
