If anyone like progressive/epic/metal you should check it out.

IMO one of the best albums to come out in years. Previous fans of Mastodon will be surprised about the new direction taken on this cd. Truly a masterpiece. The album currently got a 5 star rating on Amazon...you are really screwing yourself if you don't atleast give a spin.

Much respect to Mastodon for their musicianship and what they given to metal, but I just can't get into them. They're to intelligent for me and I'm not into Epic. Blast and grunt.

If you like blast and grunt you would love the new Gojira - The way of all flesh. One of the most Hardcore CD's I have heard. The way of all flesh is one of my favorites.

I have not heard some of these...I will give them a try.

Wait isn't Devin Townsend from Strapping Young Lad??? If so he rocks! Not to many people can rock the skullet.

I'm familiar with Gorjira, thanks. Too much melody and emotion for me though. Think labels Willowtip, Unique Leader, Razorback, etc. A little more blast, a little more grunt.

One of my favorite bands of the later 70's/early 80's was Crack the Sky. I wonder if there is a connection?

Only bands I know from Willowtip are Ion Dissonance and As Eden Burns... any other that you'd recommend?

I use Willowtip primarily for their grind and tech death. Grindwise I would recommend, Kill The Client, Maruta, and Rotten Sound. Death Metal wise, the new Severed Savior and Visceral Bleeding are both getting much play from me. You can never go wrong with Spawn of Possession and Psychroptic for Tech Death. Sickening Horror is a great atmospheric take on tech death.

I'd listen to them all first though. As Eden Burns is more melodic than anything I've listed and Ion Dissonance is more core than anything listed above.

Late to the party on this one. Picked up a few albums this week, and this is one of them. I absolutely LOVE Oblivion and The Czar.

I have Leviathon and love it. This one sounds a little different. Still some fantastic guitar riffs. I think I need to D/L this one.
