View Full Version : NFL Draft Why didn't we get a NT?

I mean a giant space eater type of guy that projects as a NT. I can appreciate that we needed the DE's, but isn't the key to the 3-4 having a giant (320 pounder) in the middle?

Raji was the Packers guy for their 3-4. Patriots grabbed Ron Brace in the 3rd to backup Wilfork. Chargers grabbed Vaughn Martin to backup Williams and he was the guy I was hoping we'd grab. Steelers grabbed Rashon Harris to backup Hampton. I just can't figure out why we passed on so many when other teams running a 3-4, very well I might add, made sure to get them.

I hope that they have some great feeling about the future of Edwards or Tyler there, but I don't think thats the case. I'm searching for answers and hoping they trade for someone they think will be there. Maybe Shaun Rogers is going to be traded because of his demand to be released. Maybe Clancy wants Gabe Watson or Alan Branch. Wishful thinking is that since Wilfork still doesn't have a new contract and heading into a contract year, he may be traded.

Rebuilding. Pioli is a genius. Get over it.

Raji was the only one we could have taken. And I suppose Pioli didn't like Raji as a prospect or the character concerns turned him away.

"Okay guys....don't take this as gospel, but I have some information..."

Some on here are saying they know "know players" and have "been told" that Dorsey is gonna put on 20-25 pounds, and play NT. No proof that I've seen though....

Not ideal, IMHO....but if anyone can do it at his size, Dorsey showed flashes in college of being able to do it. Personally, I'm concerned with the weight negating his strengths...but that's what some here are saying.

Guess we'll see.

I was told that by a player 3-4 weeks ago (I don't know him personally, but talked with him at length at work). It's looking like that might not be the case anymore, though. It was stated in a press conference that Edwards and Tyler will be at NT with Dorsey "on the outside".

Because you touch yourself at night.

This is the correct answer.

I'd guess that they think there are a few guys in next years draft who will be better.

I'm fine with Tank at the nose.

chiefs have a ton of cap space...I suspect they will find a rather large veteran.....
I am more concerned with targets for Cassel to throw to.

We drafted Tank last year, is he not enough?

Hopefully he is. It looks like they're gonna give him a shot, at least.

53 roster spots

25 starters (11 offense, 11 defense, K, P, LS)

7 draft picks

Shockingly, teams can't replace every single player in one draft.

Uh no s#!t sherlock. Who said anything about replacing the entire roster? NE, Pitt & SD all got a NT. Each all already has a true NT and we don't, yet we let many fall past us.

I think they're giving Tank a shot to be that guy, and they're also tinkering with the idea of Dorsey being a Dockett-like penetrator at the 1-tech.

Tank Tyler will be perfect for the position. He has good size and AWESOME strength. I can't wait to see him be a good NT.

I know a lot of people were interested in Tank as a NT when he came out, how do you know that the Patriots didn't target him?

Pioli said 3-4 DE was our biggest need. He's happier with Tank/Ron Edwards filling in at NT this season than he would have been if we got Raji and had to finagle an end.
