I'm sorry, I don't put both Olivo and Buck in the same lineup right now...

As Buck whiffs on a 3-2 pitch.....

And the thing is...we can't pinch hit for either of them. We are stuck with the both of them for the whole game. That is just stupid.

He won't...they will remove a good bat like AC to put Teahen at 2nd and keep Butler's weak bat in the lineup.

They need to trade Butler or Gordon. Personally I can't see how either are outplaying Shealy?

And when they go back to moving Teahen every fucking night, they'll wonder why his offensive production dips.

He's every bit the glove as Gordon at 3B. Sorry Alex, time to move your ass to 1B. And you need to start swinging it while we're at it.

Butler can still see some time in the field. Gordon will DH on these occasions. Other than that, DH Jacobs and Butler as appropriate.

I hate to bring you down off your high, but Bannister was actually kind of shitty, today. He walked 6 guys and struck out 2. That kind of pitching isn't sustainable (as a form of success). The Jays sucked worse than they have all season tonight....which is odd considering they lead the majors in runs.

When he's been good for us... it seemed to be smoke and mirrors. When he's been bad... he's been really bad.

We got one really good season out of him... one really bad one... and this time around, he's doing well again.

All we need from him is a decent 4th or 5th starter. We're not expecting much.

In the long term, a pitcher with his stuff will have to throw strikes a lot better than he was doing tonight to even be a 4th/5th starter. Guys like Burnett can get by with that many walks...but Bannister...not so much.

I'm not saying the results tonight weren't good. He battled through some tough situations in the clutch early in the game. I'm just saying that he was pretty lucky to only allow 1 run the way he was pitching, and that that kind of BB to K ratio isn't sustainable as a form of success. He'll need to do better to be in the majors long-term for the Royals (which, judging by his minor league stats, he is capable of).

Hochevar 4-0 with a 1.44 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 16 SO, and 7 BB in 25.0 IP at Omaha.

How much longer is that kid going to stay down? Clearly dominating at AAA.

I was thinking the same thing. I am excited for him to get to KC.

Well, to Ponson's credit, he's done a servicable job. So for now I'm fine with having Hochevar beat up on AAA pitching. He'll probably be up sooner than later anyway. Hopefully it'll be a Davies situation where going back down was good for him, comes back a better pitcher.

In the long term, a pitcher with his stuff will have to throw strikes a lot better than he was doing tonight to even be a 4th/5th starter. Guys like Burnett can get by with that many walks...but Bannister...not so much.

If you'll look at the postgame, you'll see that he was having trouble gripping the ball because of the constant mist that was falling. A wet, no-seam fastball is going to be tough to control for anyone.

Probably true considering Bannister doesn't have a history of walking that many batters.

Purcey could probably make the same excuse, but he's had control problems in most of his starts so far.

it is completely absurd that he is still in AAA, in my opinion. i can think of at least 5 guys off the top of my head who should be in AAA instead of him.

At the beginning of the year it may have made sense to forgo the extra year and bring him up, but at this point we are pretty much committed to mid or late May, whatever the necessary date is. It would be silly to throw away a year for the sake of maybe 2 starts.

Fortunately, Ponson and Bannister have (surprisingly) pitched well enough that his absence has not been missed (yet).

This is pretty much my thought process, too.

Hated the decision from the start, but we're in deep enough that we might as well get some practical value out of the deal.

And we better not hear rumors later that service time was indeed the only reason why he was sent down. That shit will/would piss me off to no end. In the meantime, I'll take Dayton at face value.

Ponson sucks. Has Always sucked. No reason to sign the guy in the first place. Just like Farnsworth but not as bad really. Theres no real argument here.

I thought I heard the date May 15 in the whole "service time" discussion.

It didn't seem like too long away right out of spring training, but it shure seems a long way away now.

ponson has done better than expected, but i would still much rather have hochevar in the rotation.

Going to be quite the coincidence if he's up the week of the 15th...
