View Full Version : Life Is swine flu gonna be the next flu of 1919?

I know, I know, call me an alarmist, but the last H1N1 type A flu was the pandemic of 1919 that killed millions around the globe. This is some scary chit. I wanted to offer my place as refuge when the run on food and arms happens. I will create a compound. All I ask is that I am referred to as "Him".

Seems mild so far, but I guess it was back then too at first.

Cali just reported two possible deaths, so that'd be an escalation.

The strain is actually being transfered from person to person by those so called "green" bags that you see at target, hi vee, etc, evidently since you reuse those so much they gather germs

Here's an interesting article from last October. Seems to suggest that exposure to the mild spring version of the flu helps protect you against the more severe wave of the illness that hits in the fall.

According to these guys we should all expose ourselves toot-sweet:

It will not be as bad. It will be far, far worse than anyone can possibly imagine! This will be a mega-giga-super-pandemic! The streets will be cluttered with tumbleweeds and corpses! Vomit will explode with force from the anus and diarrhea will be propelled from the mouth! It will be worse than campaign commercials. Prepare, fools, for the earth will NEVER be the same again!

I'm not scared of the Swine Flu. What's it's mortality rate? 5%?

We made it past Ebola and that was in Africa where they can't quarantine anything really. And that shit makes you bleed out of all body openings and kills just about everybody it comes in contact with. Now that would suck.

Still minorly effective. I wouldn't trust them. You may have a .015 better chance wearing those masks over someone whos not wearing a mask but thats about it. Ask anyone in health care. Masks are virtualy worthless against swine flu.

Yes, but from what I've read it affects people with good immune system even worse than those that are old, young, or generally feeble because it caused the immune system to overreact...potentially killing you and filling your lungs up with fluids, etc. Kinda scary, as I have a good immune system...or bad in this case.

Ick. But 102 isn't that high a temperature for a little one. I wouldn't have taken him in to where all the other sick people go, personally.

I hope he gets better soon.

Dude that's not a surgical mask it's a dust mask and that N stands for not oil proof and the 95 means it's only 95% effective against dust. But at least your going to have fun shopping.

Oh you got the good ones. The 95 still means it's only guaranteed to be 95% effective. I guess that's a lot better than 0%. Put them on ebay and make sure your buyers know you accept peso's. Make sure you let us know what happens at the store it should be fun.

Sad to see we have our first death from this bug, too.
