View Full Version : Poop OK people, we would appreciate it if you would stop referring to this as "swine" flu

I saw ex-Iowa governor Tom No-sack on the TV yesterday begging people to call this H1N1 because it's going to hurt the pork industry (I get what he's saying, people in general are stupid).

Of course, I wake up this morning and the Des Moines news is first in the nation to refer to this outbreak as "H1N1, formerly known as the swine flu". They only said 3 times to go buy some pork, it's safe!

I know it's not funny, but JFC, I just have to laugh. The national news is telling me that it's practically the end of the word, and the local news is saying "no big deal", go eat some ribs and support your local farmer.

It is silly, because its not what this particular germ is......and it did make those brilliant and intellectually superior Egyptians kill off their entire swine herd.

I'm going to call it the TOFlU.

I like how Biden commented that he advised his family to avoid public transportation...specifically trains and planes. The white house shuffle closely followed that idots fubar.

Did anyone see the Paris thing? She got asked about the swine flu and said she hadn't heard about it, and then she said "I don't eat that." And I'd have to bet that she's actually smarter than a lot of the general public....

Pork Sales down 20%. Analysts guess it will take 4-5 weeks for the idiots to start buying pork again.

Heard a story from the Nat'l Pork Council, fielding calls from worried people, some lady actually called and asked if she needed to wear surgical gloves and mask while she walked past the meat department in her grocery store.

Holy shiite there are some stupid freaking people out there...

Never overestimate people.

Just when you think we've reached rock bottom in terms of lack of common sense in this country - people bust out jack-hammers.

I mean, why actually become informed when "Survivor" is on?

I honestly wonder how some people function in society on a daily basis.

There will be some crazy good beef and chicken ads this week too! Probably not many pork ads, but prices should be way discounted. Retailers are rolling with the flow and featuring proteins that people will actually buy. Give it one more week, and the markdown bins will be LOADED with chops, roasts, pork loins, etc. Bacon is the one thing they expect people will still buy.
