The way I look at it is like this. When I was a kid I liked GI Joe and Transformers exclusively. My son is into transformers and getting into this. This is heaven.

This looks bad ass as well. The first time I saw the trailer I was thought this looks familiar. I couldn't out my finger on it until obviously they showed the title. It already had my interest.

Their starting to flow the cartoons back in to get the kids interested then you have my generation who grew up watching it and that peeks the interest then you got the action aspect which will draw in the 20 something crowd.


I think it will go the way of the transformers.

There was nothing in my life more important than GI Joe for many years while I was growing up.
Transformers were close, but GI Joe was my first true love.

That said, I am prepared to be disappointed by this movie. The fact that it doesn't focus on the Snake Eyes/Stormshadow backstory alone makes me wonder (in the comic books, that was the coolest story).
But I thought I'd be disappointed by Transformers ibn a big way, and was happily surprised...so we'll see.

There is actually a new Cartoon version that is coming out that looks 110% better then the movie. Its called Gi Joe Resolute or something like that. There are a ton of trailers out and I thought I saw something on AICN but here is a youtube version.....people die in this one....

About the Live Movie:
I dont know if I am going to see that in the theaters until I hear some reviews. Not sure about a couple of the character choices and the suits seem a bit...silly.

About the Animated Movie:
Finally saw the whole thing. Hope they bring it back and keep with the more adult type format. I remember watching the originals and a helicopter would take a missile and someone would jump out of it with a parachute. Not to spoil this new "Resolute" but, someone takes a bullet to the noggin. A couple of questions though.

Is Snake Eyes completely bad ass in this?
Is Duke Voiced by the same guy who voices Spike Spiegal from Cowboy Bebop?

I remember, a mini series type thing, from the original cartoon. It focused on one guy. It wasn't hawk, and all these bad things were happening to him including the people he cared about turning into piles of goo. Man, that was a long time ago. I couldn't have been much older than 7 or so. Freaked me out at the time. That would be one hell of a blast from the past if I could find that.



Edit: OK!!! I've found the dude that all the stuff was happening to. He wears a Navy uniform, and has a goate. What is his name? Maybe that will help me find it. He's at min. 2:15 of this vid.

Yeah, I think I "missed" it.

That doesn't mean that I won't admit that it's a good movie (if it is) but I won't see it in the theater.
