Gothamist and Gawker are reporting that it's absolute chaos at KFCs across town today. Yesterday, Oprah offered downloadable coupons for free KFC today, and now look what's happened:

"Despite the very visible grilled chicken behind the register, the manager told everyone with coupons to leave and that the promotion was over for the day. The people there are currently holding a sit-in and refusing to leave until they get their free chicken...or the cops are called. Racial epithets were being spewed, people who actually wanted to pay for chicken were facing a potential beatdown..."

And per a Gawker tipster: "When I finally gave up (after 30 minutes of aguing with other customers) a small RIOT started going on outside the store with people screaming at the manager." For those of you thinking, "Jesus people. It's just KFC chicken," we'll note it's two pieces of chicken plus two sides plus a biscuit, a meal that is apparently worthy of complete societal meltdown.

BALTIMORE -- Kentucky Fried Chicken is offering a free, two-piece grilled chicken meal with two sides and a biscuit as part of a promotion to get more people to eat healthier foods, but getting the free meal may not be as easy as you'd think.

Online coupons for the free meal have been quite a hit. The line at a KFC on Greenmount Avenue was lengthy all day Thursday, 11 News reporter Melissa Carlson said.

But while some people at various locations were fed, others waited in line and were turned away.

"I got the two-piece grilled chicken with the coupon. I haven't eaten it yet, but I'm hoping it's going to be good," said KFC patron Letha Curtis.

Shannon Edwards said she walked in the rain to a KFC on St. Paul Street but was turned away.

"I'm a big girl. I like to eat. So, I'm kind of disappointed I have to go to McDonald's now," she said.

The St. Paul Street location and many others are not accepting the coupon.

"I think it's a disgrace," said one person who couldn't use his KFC coupon.

Now, if you want "free KFC" you have to mail in for it AFTER they punked you at the store once! Today I went in, they wouldn't give me free chicken. Oh, it was available, only if you BUY it, can't have it for fee, nope. No Can Do....
