I'd imagine this has been done before and I'm not up to looking for it but...

What new tunes have you heard lately that people may find enjoyable?

They may be old tunes that you just recently found online or in a movie.

I'm really into "Limelight" by Rush, lately. Never heard it until I watched I love you, Man.

I'm not a fan of country music nor do I have a young daughter but this one is pretty impressive. Good old Hootie living the dream.

There are a few pretty good cover tunes on Everclear's "The Vegas Years" CD which I listened to for the first time a week or so ago. "Bad Connection" (Yaz) and "Rich Girl" (Hall & Oates) are surprisingly good rockers considering the original versions.

These aren't necessarily "new" but I recently digitized my old records and tapes. I had several of each that I bought right before switching to CD and never really listened to them. Now that I have them on MP3 and can listen to them more frequently, I find they are really good and I missed out at the time.

The most striking examples of that are New Model Army, The Lucy Show and The Jesus And Mary Chain.

I've never heard of The Lucy Show, but :thumb: for NMA an JAMC, especially JAMC. Which records do you have?

Edit: After reading the product description for what is apparently The Lucy Show's only full length recording, I'm going to have to try to find it. It sounds pretty promising. Thanks for the tip.

I can't stop listening to the Decemberist's new album, Hazards of Love. It's not an easy listen. All of the songs flow together and there is actually a storyline and recurring melodies and such. It's really written almost like a musical theater soundtrack, only less flaming (NTTIAWT).

Seriously, though, album of the year material if it's at all your thing.

JAMC - Psychocandy and Darklands

NMA - Ghost Of Cain (I had no idea until this morning that they were still around)

The Lucy Show only had a couple of albums. They were kind of a typical '80's band but the album, Mania, is enjoyable.

Some other ones that I have been re-enjoying are Echo and the Bunnymen, Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry, a bunch of old Siouxsie and the Banshees and 54-40. I also did a bunch of my old metal/hard rock albums like Tank, Holocaust, Fortnox, the first two Def Leppard albums (which I should just go ahead and buy since I really like them), Eloy and Heaven. I'm kicking myself for selling most of my albums after switching to CD because some of them are hard to find on CD now.

I tell you what, I am more in love with my sirius radio than ever before.

I ve been listening to classic vinyl and classic rewind and I'm hearing songs that I've heard but didn't know the titles of them. Case in point: The immigrant song by LZ.

They play better tunes than my octane and lithium stations.

Check out Bastille Day by Rush if you're on a kick. I think it'll be right up your alley. A few more are, Farewell to Kings, Anthem, and YYZ. Vintage Rush.

YYZ has no lyrics, but it's a musical masterpiece.

I much prefer their first 2 albums to their last 2.

Shouldn't that be 7 letters and 2 words?

I just started listening to them and their 3rd CD (out of 4) Because of the Times is fantastic.

Also, the newer Raconteurs, Consolers of the Lonely is much better than their first.

The Dead Weather (Jack White) has a debut CD on 6/9 the looks promising.
