I have gotten the CP default cannot connect to server page several times since last night. Usually for at least 5 minutes or more. Something about traffic in the message.

Yeah, I'm not sure what was going on - this was definitely different than the other issues. No ping, SSH...nothing. It was like the server was completely off. Then it magically turned back on.

The server's load is currently through the roof, which is locking everyone out. Morph has been looking into it, and for one reason or another, there are an insane number of e-mails being sent out through our server (currently around 10,000 in the queue).

This shouldn't be vBulletin related, but Kyle has a few other sites running on this server, so morph is hesitant to kill the e-mail sender in case they're somehow legit. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about it until Kyle comes around and takes a look. Hopefully soon, but it's tough to say for sure.

As for what's causing this, I have no idea. I would suspect that it's a spammer who has found a way to relay through our server, but that's just guessing. I know very little about Unix servers, so I'm just passing along what I am hearing from morph.

I killed the email server on Kyles server, any UNIX people would be impressed with email driving the server load to 415...

Someone else has started it back up on me, so we will have to keep an eye on it.
